Parker's Story

My name is Parker! I was abandoned on the streets and survived on my own for 7 months, until my friends at Rhodie’s caught me and brought me to safety! I forgot how nice it was to live in a warm comfortable home, sleep in a nice bed and always have food when I’m hungry! They tell me I’m about 3 yrs old now, I look to be a poodle mix and weigh 20lbs.
Everyone thinks I’m cute and I have a sweet personality too! I can be a bit shy meeting people and sometimes will bark at strangers, but I become very bonded to my human once I get to know you. I love to sit on chairs! Any chair is fine but my favorite is the recliner chair either with my foster Mom or without her! LOL. I’m a very playful guy and I love playing with toys! I've discovered those squeaky ones are a blast (and a great way to annoy my humans!) I really like chew bones as well. You will catch me often throwing my toys around and happily playing by myself. I'm good at fetch but don't always bring the toy back. I'm an active boy who likes to get lots of exercise. Walks are great but I really like to get my energy out by running too. Sometimes my foster Mom will catch me chasing my tail or 'talking' a lot if I have been cooped up or housebound too long, so my new family really needs to be active and interactive with me. Have a mentioned rolling and scratching my back on the carpet is another thing that I like to do because it feels soooo good!!
I’ve been good with the small dogs in my foster home. At first I wasn't very interactive with them, but now I run in the pack and chase balls with them. I'm more of a people dog though...and prefer my humans over doggie friends. My foster home has a couple of cats....I don't really like them and would prefer they were not there!
I’m a very good boy in the house. I'm housetrained and crate trained…but I am not fond of being in the crate during the day, especially if I know you are going somewhere and not taking me. So you may hear me whine/cry but I do settle down quickly. I don't like to be left outside by myself for a long while. I will go outside to potty and sniff around, hang out for a bit, but I will definitely tell you when I'm done and want to come back in!
I'm not familiar with kids at all and have never lived with children, so my foster Mom says I should only be with older children (over 13yrs) and would definitely prefer an active person or couple who will take me everywhere and on fun adventures to the beach, hiking, biking, walking trails, pet stores, home depot, festivals and any other exciting places with you!! I lived in an apartment before and hated it! Due to my activity level/needs as well as my bark frequency, I am not suitable for apartments/condos/townhouses/duplexes. I need a single family home with an attached yard and secure fencing.
My adoption fee is $500 which includes current health examination and vaccinations, neuter, microchip, flea and deworming treatment, professional grooming, along with any other medical/dental deemed necessary by my veterinarian.

Rhodie's Rescue's Adoption Policy
WE DO NOT DO LONG DISTANCE (SOUTH CALIF) OR OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS You must be 21 years or older to adopt. Please bring a valid form of I.D. All members of the family must be present in order to adopt. We want to make sure it's a good fit for everyone! Applications must be completed and approved for each dog prior to adopting. We do not adopt our dogs on a “first come, first serve” basis. We place our dogs with the best matched family according to their specific needs and personalities. You must provide pictures of your backyard (including fences, gates and latches) along with the areas will the dog will eat and sleep. Some dogs may require a home visit prior to adoption. If you are planning on adopting a dog and already have an existing dog, we ask that you leave them at home when attending our adoption event. Once you're application has been approved to adopt a specific dog, you can schedule an appointment for a meet and greet at your home with your potential new pet. Renters must provide a copy of their lease (including pet policy) and duration of lease. Homeowners should know if their home insurance policy has breed restrictions/exclusions, and be familiar with any HOA by-laws regarding dogs. Townhome/Condominium owners should be familiar with their HOA by-laws, including restricted breeds, weight limits, and maximum number of pets allowed. All dogs will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped prior to adoption. We make our best effort to treat any medical conditions deemed necessary, unless it is out of our financial reach or not in the best interest of the dog at the time. At which point we will disclose and discuss any known medical issues or conditions that will need to be addressed with the potential adopter prior to adoption. Most of our dogs are rescued from shelters or neglectful situations and we have either limited or no knowledge of their health background or behavioral background. Although we have our dogs checked by veterinarians, and we do our best to evaluate and determine any behavioral issues, we cannot guarantee the dog you adopt will be free of any current or future health or behavioral problems. Adopters must be willing to allow a Rhodie’s representative to make a follow-up contact, either in person or by phone. If at any time you are unable to keep the pet or offer it proper care, it must be offered back to Rhodie’s before alternate arrangements are made. If approved, an applicant must sign a contract to adopt a dog which outlines the responsibilities of the rescue and the adopter. This contract is legally binding. If any information provided by the adopter is found to be false, misleading or purposefully omitted, on either the application or during interview with Rhodie’s Representatives, will be cause for denial of adoption and/or removal of the dog from your home, regardless of when or how the information was discovered.
