Parfait

This beautiful lady is a gentle soul. Despite going through some tough times recently she is sweet as can be. She had terrible matting that caused her to limp but is feeling much better after having them cut off though it has left her with a lopsided haircut. She also recovered from a nasty case of kennel cough and is feeling so much better. <br/><br/>She is still coming out of her shell but would likely appreciate a quieter house or apartment where she could just sit by her people. She enjoys being pet and will politely give you a little lick to ask for a pet or to thank you for the pets. She is housebroken and well behaved. We haven’t tried a crate with her but there’s been no need as she doesn’t get into trouble or seem anxious when left alone. She has only barked a few times and all have been to let us know someone is at the door. She gets excited to go outside but so far only wants to explore the yard a little or walk down the street a few houses and then is happy to head back home. She is still confused by stairs but is working on it. She also seemed to not understand dog toys but did enjoy a snuffle mat. <br/><br/>Not sure what type of dog she is but she looks almost like a miniature Irish setter and she has some wiryness to her fur that fits with that breed too. She is just under 50lbs now but will hopefully add a few more. Estimated to be six years old. Because of the kennel cough we haven’t had much of a chance to see how she does with other dogs but we think she will be friendly and polite. We don’t have a cat but she had no interest in the cats we saw at the vets office. She does give squirrels the evil eye though and intensely smells our yard where there are rabbits. <br/><br/>If you are looking for a wonderful companion to keep you company and who is calm and not yappy this may be your girl!<br/><br/>Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. <br/><br/>Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. <br/><br/>Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog.
