Paprika's Story
Age:2 Y
Weight: 10 lbs
Dog friendly: Yes, requires a companion dog in the home
Cat friendly: Yes
Kid friendly: Older respectful kids only
Potty trained: Almost!
Crate trained: Yes

****Companion Dog and Fenced Yard Necessary****

Paprika is such a special little girl who has thoroughly wiggled her way into my heart and has totally made herself a part of my pack here at home. The way she has transformed from anxious, scared, and perhaps overly-clingy into a confident, happy-go-lucky little dog has been so incredible to watch. A simple bio could not do her justice. Here are just some of the ways Paprika has opened up and the incredible progress I've had such a pleasure to witness over the last couple months.

Leash training
Paprika also had zero leash training when she got here. Walks were always chaotic because she would become tangled, nervous, and try to pull away. After lot's of exposure and training, Paprika now gets SO excited when you pull her collar and leash out! She knows it's walk time and she's all about it! She walks so politely now and always looks up to you to check in (she's actually better at this than my own dogs!)

Stranger danger
This is the area that Paprika still needs a bit more help with, but even still I'm blown away at her progress. Before, she would be very frightened of new people at the door or seeing people out and about in public. Now, after a slow and public introduction with a new person, she's completely fine with hanging out in the presence of a stranger, and will happily take treats from them. She'll still bark at a knock at the door and a brand new person in the house, but every time it gets easier and she is quicker to settle down and accept them. So I'm incredibly confident that continued exposure will yield even more success.

Car rides and other outdoor outings
Before she came here, it's possible that Paprika had never even been outside and was very nervous. Now she jumps right on up into the car and rides very politely. She loves to run errands with me and has been so good at places like Petco and Home Depot. She no longer barks or becomes nervous when we see people around, she just looks to me for a check in. If a stranger approaches, she may ask you to hold her for reassurance, but she remains calm and collected the whole time.

Paprika is almost totally house trained, only rarely having accidents in the house. She's totally dog and cat friendly and gets along amazingly with dogs of all sizes. She absolutely loves rough housing with larger ones. She also plays amazing with my other small dog and is friendly with my cat but mostly ignores him. This little girl has so much spunk and such a hilarious personality, I could honestly watch her all day. She has lots of energy for play and will engage in it whenever prompted, but she's also totally happy to crash next to you for a movie marathon. Paprika LOVES to cuddle!! She'll try her hardest to get as close as possible to you before going down for a snooze. While I work she loves to fall asleep in my lap. She's definitely a diva who loves to be held and doted on, and would absolutely just love to be the center of someone's attention. There's not much NOT to love about Paprika. Sure, she could use a bit more work on meeting new people and such, but considering her past and the progress she's made, I couldn't be more proud of her. She's an incredible companion otherwise and if someone would give her the chance, I know with 100% certainty they would feel the same way.

Adoption Fee: $695.00
