Papi's Story

Papi or Papito is a sweet, smart, spunky boy. He is believed to be a Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix and around 11 months old. He's a little guy weighing it at around 8 lbs. Papi came recently came from Oklahoma where he was living outside with several other dogs and was covered in ticks. Despite his previous experience, he’s a dream dog and seems to have really taken to indoor life. He loves exploring on walks and is a very visual alert boy. And even though he isn’t very strong it is recommended using a harness to protect his trachea and throat because he does pull when he sees bunnies or birds. Papi likes to play with a squeaky toy sometimes, but he really just wants to snuggle with them for the most part. He is not a fan of the vacuum at all! We don't know Papi's history with children, but at the park recently when approached by children he did let out a little growl so he will need a very slow introduction to children and possibly a home with older children or no children. He is a bit cautious with new situations, but he warms up quickly. He came from a home in Oklahoma with several other dogs and he has been friendly with other dogs and adults here in Iowa. He has not had any exposure to cats that we are aware of.

If you are interested in meeting Papi, please complete an online application at https://hopeanimalrescueofiowa.duplie.com/forms/196/dog-application

Adoption fee is $300 which includes spay/neuter, microchip, and age appropriate vaccines.
