While there was some adjustment time, she is now progressing very well with her house training and has been left for up to 5 hours without incident. Pancake's new people will have to be patient and committed to continuing to support her in this learning journey.

While she does some whining when you first leave the house, she does quickly settle to wait patiently for your return. As she gets more comfortable, she has started to bark occasionally, but is typically a very quiet, restful dog. Due to the whining and barking, Pancake is best suited to a detached home. She has lived with dogs in the past and while not cat tested, it is expected that her submissive nature may do well with a cat sibling.

Pancake will need a home where care is taken to keep her secure at all times. It is highly recommended that she be double leashed at all times or have access to a very secure, fenced yard, with no gaps, to ensure she stays safe. The world is still a scary place and she is easily startled by almost anything and her instinct is to run. Daily walks are still a bit scary, but so interesting and loves to take the time to sniff everything. She continues to work on her walking manners.

In the house, while watching tv, she will curl up on your lap or beside you on the couch. She follows you around the house and is always curled up close by. She currently sleeps under the covers with her foster person and has had no issues thru the night.

Pancake rides well in a car and is cautious but happy to visit dog friendly stores and meet new calm people and seems comfortable with men or women. At this point she has not been tested with children but older, quiet children would likely be fine. In all cases, anyone working with Pancake will need to always be alert for an instinctual flight response to every new situation or noise. If in doubt, she is going to try to run always. So that means double leashing her at all times; one on her collar and one on a harness.

To adopt this dog go to: http://forms.gle/Ev16pQeQ2zAZWLig6

Rat Terrier Rescue Canada Adoption Fees
Puppies under 1 year - $775
Young adult 1 year - 5 years $650
Adults 6 years - 9 years $575
Seniors 10+ $325

The adoption fee includes spay/neuter .
*EXCLUDING UNALTERED PUPPIES UNDER A YEAR.

The adoption fee also includes, at a minimum, vaccinations, de-worming, I.D. tag and microchip insertion.
