Pancake Shepherd Mix Bellingham, WA

Pancake is a young, active dog with tons of potential! Food motivated and attentive, once he forms a bond with his person (it doesn't take much!) this guy will likely be a training superstar! In the couple of weeks we've known him, we've noticed he seems a little unfamiliar with certain things out in the world and will give a single "spooky bark" at things he's not so sure about (noisy garbage truck, plastic bag flying in the wind, sometimes his own reflection :)) but he recovers very quickly and always looks to his handler for assistance/reassurance. A calmer home environment with a steady, predictable routine would be of great benefit for this sensitive guy- at this point in his life, he would not do well in a bustling party house with lots of strangers popping by all the time. That's not to say Pancake isn't a party boy, because he definitely is-- this pup LOVES to romp, play, and cause a little mischief from time to time ;) If Pancake seems like the perfect pup for you, submit an application to see if it's a match!

-Can Live with Kids: Pancake would do best in an adult-only home, or at least one with respectful, dog-savvy older kids/teenagers who can read/respect his body language and give him space when he needs it. At this time we're recommending no kids under 14 yrs of age.

-Can Live with Cats: No- Pancake has a high prey drive and needs a home without cats/other small animals.

-Can Live with Dogs: Yes, although it'd have to be just the right match. Pancake was surrendered for not getting along with the other dog in his previous home (senior pitbull) but has tested well with a variety of dogs at the shelter and joins dog playgroup every day! He plays best with tolerant adult females but could likely live with most active dogs. Intro done at WHS!

-Can do Apartment Living: Not recommended- Pancake is easily spooked by strange noises so a busy apartment setting wouldn't be the best spot for him. A home with a fenced yard would be ideal!

-Potty Trained: Yes

-Bite History: No

-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Not required, but would certainly be beneficial!

-Energy Level: Medium/high

-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Just a microchip!
