Meet Paisley, a 4-year-old purebred dachshund weighing 14 pounds, with a sleek red, smooth coat, who was saved from euthanasia and is now on the mend and full of love to give.

Paisley has a signature move that will melt your heart: she climbs right up into your lap, places a paw on each side of your neck, and showers you with hugs, kisses, and gentle nose nibbles. She loves eye contact and affection, and she is quickly becoming known as the ultimate cuddle companion in her foster home.

Environment

Paisley is fully potty trained and considers her crate a happy place. She enjoys short walks and playtime rather than long adventures, and she walks beautifully on a leash. A yard would be a nice bonus but isn't required, and she's a quiet homebody who does fine in a home with shared walls. She can settle for a little while on her own, and she handled a 2.5 hour car ride to her foster home without any trouble at all.

Pets & People

Paisley may show a slight preference for women at first, but she warms up easily once she gets to know someone. She'll give a little bark at new faces, but she's easily redirected and settles quickly. She enjoys playful moments with her foster's resident dachshunds, though she does like to be the center of her favorite human's attention. At mealtime she's gentle and gets her own space to eat comfortably in her crate.

Health & Special Needs

Paisley was saved from euthanasia due to IVDD, a back condition common in dachshunds, and she recently had surgery to repair a ruptured disc. The good news is she's already up and walking again. She is on crate rest as part of her recovery through September 1, 2026, and her new family should be ready to follow her vet's guidance on activity restrictions as she continues to heal. With a little patience during this final stretch of recovery, Paisley is well on her way to a happy, active life.

Location

Paisley is available for adoption from Falls Church, VA. Please email Annie at intake@littlepawsdr.org with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Paisley is $375.
