Ozzy's Story

Hi, I’m Ozzy — although some of you may remember me as Orbot. I changed my name because I wanted to be introduced a second time around as a different dog. I’m so grateful to MiracleLane for giving me that second chance.

As you might notice, I’m a senior gentleman. My face may be a little sugary and I do grunt like an old man from time to time, but if you dangle a stuffed toy in front of me, I instantly turn back into a puppy!

My journey hasn’t been the easiest. I ended up in the shelter twice, but my amazing foster mom saved me both times, and I’m incredibly thankful for her ~ Because of her, I finally get to thrive in a warm, loving home where I can burn some energy and then happily fall asleep right after!

I’m a smart boy and I love showing off my tricks! If you have treats, I’m extra motivated, but I’ll perform even without them. I can sit, give you both of my front paws when you say “give me paw,” and when you say “down,” I lay on my backside with my paws up. If you say “UP!” I’ll stand on two legs like I’m reaching for the stars.

I’m also a good little protector — I’ll let you know with a growl or bark if someone knocks at the door so you stay aware and safe.

House manners? I’ve got them! I’m a quick bathroom breaker — I like to do my business and head right back inside. When the weather is nice, I enjoy long walks or playtime in quieter areas. As an older pup, exercise is still important for me.

Busy areas aren’t really my thing. I prefer calmer places to walk. I might react to a street cat running by, and I can get curious about other dogs. If another dog is reactive, I might react too, so for now it’s best to guide me in another direction. My foster mom is helping me learn to ignore those distractions.

I’m crate trained and spend a lot of my day there because it’s my comfort space.

As for snacks — I’m not a fan of peanut butter or apples. But I love boiled chicken, carrots, and potatoes (both regular and sweet). I’m also a big fan of flavored wet treats, especially in a stuffed Kong. Puzzle toys with treats are great too — they keep my brain busy, and I try my best to solve them, especially with a little encouragement.

When it’s playtime, I love tug-of-war and fetch. After a good play session, I’m usually ready for a nap on the floor or a cozy rest in my crate.

Right now I live with some funny-looking cats with no hair (my foster mom calls them Sphynx cats). After a slow introduction, we get along pretty well!

Honestly, I don’t ask for much — just a loving home. I’d be happiest spending time with my people. If you work from home or are busy around the house, that’s okay too. I’m very patient and happy just being near you.

My foster mom is also helping me practice being home alone, and she says I’m doing a great job so far.

If you’re willing to give me a chance, I promise to be a wonderful companion. The transition might take a little patience and consistency, but if you give that to me, I’ll give you my whole heart in return!
