Ozzy's Story

Ozzy is ready for his forever home. He is a young German Shepherd mix who is about 2 yo. He’s currently fostering with me in Thibodaux close to New Orleans.

He’s really come a long way (literally and figuratively) when he was pulled from a shelter in Georgia and given a safe place to decompress and learn to live in a home with myself and my crew.

He’s a happy-go-lucky fella who has a lot of playful energy, tons of affection to give, loves being around his people, and is sharp as a tack. He’s a bit of a party boy so he’d do great with someone who is active and willing to meet his needs through play, enrichment and training.

Ozzy has the foundations in place to be a wonderful companion:

- he has been vetted and is neutered
- he is crate and potty trained,
- he walks quite nicely, but will need to continue his training with his new person.
- he has the very beginnings of recall training started
- he likes to settle down with a favorite chew after a good session of play or walk
- he is very social with people and dogs alike, though he can get a little rowdy with dogs, so it is recommended that he go to a single dog household or to an experienced owner of multi-dog households
- he does seem to have mild environmental allergies (itchy skin and ears), but this is under control for the time being.

A rehome fee of $200 will be required. This dog means a lot to me, so I won’t be taking his leaving lightly. He’s well worth it.

If you’re serious about giving this cool dude the wonderful life he deserves, his application is here:

https://form.jotform.com/hailmaryrescue/hail-mary-rescue-adoption-applicati

Hail Mary Rescue's Adoption Policy
Hail Mary Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping Animal Shelters. We assist with medical needs/rehab/transports/assessments, etc. We pull dogs from high kill shelters when foster homes are available. We are foster based which gives pets the opportunity to live in home settings where they are house and crate trained, learn basic obedience commands, and are well socialized, many with children and other dogs. Exposure to cats depends on the foster's home. We adopt to homes all over the United States. Mission: Moving Heaven and Earth to Improve the Lives of Shelter Animals Slogan: Together we make it Better .. Our policy is to rescue for life and if any of our rescued dogs cannot stay with their adoptive family, they must be returned to Hail Mary Rescue and not to a shelter. Hail Mary Rescue requires vet checks and at times home checks. LANDLORD REFERENCE AND APPROVAL if renting your home/apartment. We match our dogs according to the information YOU answer on our adoption application. Without accurate information, we cannot guarantee a good match. After all, isn't this what it's all about when adopting your Forever Companion? We want our dogs to succeed and be happy. If the dog you are interested in is not suitable, we will be more than happy to try and find one who is. Southeast Louisiana has an overpopulation of unwanted dogs turned into area shelters daily. Every application is responded to by our Adoption Coordinators. Submitting the application does NOT mean the dog is yours. We are all Volunteers so please give us time to match you up with a wonderful dog. Each of our dogs are unique with different requirements to adopt. Please read carefully to ensure this one is for you. VET REFERNCES: Your application should contain the name your vet account is under. If you have multiple animals or multiple vets, please include all the names of your vets. All current dogs should be up to date with Rabies, Bordetella, Parvo, Distemper, Heartworm Preventative and be Spayed/Neutered. . Vet references should also show a history of an ability to care for sick or injured pets. OUR ADOPTION FEE COVERS: Vaccinations: Rabies (3 months and older) DHLPP, Bordetella. Fecal-negative Spay/Neuter Microchip Flea and tick preventative-current at time of adoption Heartworm Preventative - current at time of adoption Exposure to a home setting where they are started on: House and crate training Basic obedience commands Well socialized, many with children dogs. Exposure to cats depends on the foster's home. We have, and always will, work with "Underdogs". These are our "Special Ones" who require a patient and unique family to love them. We NEVER adopt out aggressive dogs. Our "Special Ones" are sweet and loving but lack trust in new humans. These are dogs we have pulled out of the worst of circumstances. They have been let down over and over, some let down through other so called "rescues" who promised them help and never gave it. Please read carefully if you see our hashtag #hmrhelpingtheunderdogs These are "Special Dogs" who are seeking "Special People" to love them!!!
