Ozzy's Story

Meet Ozzy (aka: Sir Oinks-a-lot, Professional Nap Enthusiast)

If you’ve ever thought, “I wish I had a dog who combines the wisdom of a grandpa, the sleep schedule of a teenager, and the occasional sound effects of a confused walrus,” then congratulations—Ozzy is your guy.

At a distinguished 8–10 years young, Ozzy is what we like to call a *mystery breed*. Some say dog, some say walrus, some say “that’s definitely a retired gentleman in a dog suit.” We may never know. What we DO know is that he is 100% adorable.

Ozzy is deaf, which honestly just means he has mastered the fine art of ignoring nonsense. He communicates through hand signals, vibes, and what we can only assume are telepathic agreements. He knows “sit,” “paw,” and follows direction like a champ... as long as you remember he might occasionally go, “Wait... what?” and need a second (or third) try. Think of it as character building—for you.

Let’s talk lifestyle. Ozzy is low-energy and fully committed to it. His hobbies include:
• Sleeping like it’s his full-time job
• Sleeping in like a grumpy teenager (mornings are offensive)
• Lying dramatically near heaters
• Sunbathing like a retired Florida resident
• Going on leisurely strolls where he absolutely does NOT pull because, frankly, that sounds exhausting

He is potty trained, crate trained (no complaints there), non-destructive, and basically the easiest roommate you’ll ever have. Chaos? Hard pass. Ozzy is unbothered, moisturized, in his lane, thriving.

Personality-wise, he’s the total package: sweet, gentle, goofy, a little clumsy, and deeply lovable. He makes the most *incredible* little grunts and noises—like he’s constantly narrating his own documentary. (“Here we see the Ozzy in his natural habitat... demanding snacks.”)

Ozzy’s story didn’t start out so great—he was found in rough shape in a backyard during the dead of winter. But thanks to a lot of love, care, and dedication, he’s made a full comeback and is finally ready for the cozy, safe forever home he deserves.

What does Ozzy need?
Honestly... not much. A warm bed, some food, a little patience, and a human who appreciates a slow-moving, sweet soul who just wants to exist near you and occasionally grunt about it.

If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate, low-maintenance best friend with a heart of gold and the spirit of a slightly confused sea creature... Ozzy is waiting.

He’s so close to his happy ending—could it be you?

The adoption fee for Ozzy is $350. This donation helps to cover veterinary expenses including spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations. Wish Upon a Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, foster based animal rescue. If you would like to meet Ozzy please complete our adoption questionnaire at www.wishuponarescue.org/adopt. We will review your responses and be in contact to schedule a meet and greet at a time and place convenient for your family and our team member.

Wish Upon A Rescue's Adoption Policy
Thank you for considering adoption first!! Wish Upon a Rescue, hereinafter referred to as WISH, has dogs and cats available for adoption. We believe that all of these animals deserve a second chance at a forever home, regardless of breed, age or physical ability. These animals come to WISH for a variety of reasons, and we will be sure to share with you all of the factual information we have on each pet prior to adoption. These animals may come to us after being found stray (lost and unclaimed from animal control), as an owner surrender due to illness or relocation of the previous owner, or as a result of unwanted litters of kittens and puppies. But don’t worry; no matter how these animals found safety at WISH, they are all ready to brighten your life. They are WISHING on every star for their forever families, and they are working hard in their foster homes to learn how to be the best dog or cat in town! When adopting an animal, you will be saving at least two lives: The life of your newly adopted family member and a second life by opening up a space in a foster home for WISH to save another animal. Please remember, when you adopt you are making a lifetime commitment to your new family member. When you complete the application, it will be reviewed by a WISH Adoption Counselor. The adoption counselor’s primary responsibility is placing an animal in the home best suited for its unique needs. An interview with you and your family will allow the adoption counselor to help ensure a good fit with your new family member and answer any questions you may have. In some cases, an adoption counselor will bring the animal to your home in preparation for adoption. This is a good time for all members of the household and any current animals to meet. This is also a good time to ask any questions you may have. Depending on the needs of your family and the animal, the adoption may be completed during this visit. Here at WISH, we strongly believe in positive reinforcement training for all cats and dogs. We require that puppies and the majority of adult dogs complete a positive reinforcement training class at a certified training facility within two month of adoption at the adopter’s expense. We would be more than happy to help you find a trainer that meets your family’s needs. A copy of the training completion certificate should to be sent to a WISH After Care Manager. A WISH After-Care Manager will be in contact with you several times in the next few months to ask how the animals is doing, ask about the animal’s health and well-being, and to assist with any issues or questions that you may have. A valid driver’s license or state ID is required for identification purposes and will be copied for the animals file. The primary applicant must be 21 years old or older. WISH reserves the right to accept or deny any applicant or application based on our requirements for adoption and the needs of the animal. Completion of this application does not guarantee approval for adoption. Please be truthful in your responses of this adoption application as it will help the adoption counselor find the perfect pet for your family. Failure to provide truthful answers may result in a nullification of your application and contract. WISH is an all volunteer organization and we appreciate your cooperation and patience with our adoption process. We will do our very best to complete the adoption process as quickly as possible, while ensuring what is best for the animals and your family.
