Ozzie's Story

UPDATE: Ozzie has settled in amazingly well with his foster family, is totally house trained, knows their routine and is the perfect house guest. He loves car rides, as they always take him somewhere special, except the vet's office, where he is still fearful. However he loves the water, cottage visits and is very gentle with children and puppies. Ozzie is a velcro dog and adores receiving all the love and attention, and gives far more in return. He will soon be fitted with his final prosthetic limb and looks forward to bounding along walks as well as play time with other dogs. Ozzie is now ready for his new family.

Take a look at this gentle face! Such sweet boy despite all he has experienced in his life. Ozzie was born with a deformed left front paw, almost like a flipper. He was left outside a shelter, whose staff found him in the morning. He struggled to walk on his elbow, which has left a callous there, so movement was very limited. He was extremely thin, had a skin condition and his face was full of scars. Who knew what he has gone through in the past?. When he saw a surgeon for a potential amputation, it was decided that his paw would be an excellent platform to fit a prosthetic leg on and the process was started. He is doing well on the trial leg and he will see the physiotherapist in a few days for some adjustments.

However, Ozzie is now thriving, was recently neutered and vaccines are UTD. He is a happy dog, full of life, kisses, gentle with everyone and adores meeting new people and other dogs. Ozzie is an American bulldog mix, estimated to be 2-3 years old and about 60 lbs.

Stay tuned for updates as we get to know more about him.
