Outkast loves people and is always happy to soak up attention, especially when it comes with a good old-fashioned hug. He is pretty independent and happily does his own thing, but he also enjoys spending time with his people. He did fantastic at pack walk and showed everyone what a fun and easygoing guy he can be. He is good with other dogs, gentle by nature, treat motivated, and always ready for his next adventure.

Outkast is a 5-year-old male Hound Mix who weighs 54 pounds full grown. He has three favorite activities: run, sniff, and lounge! He is manageable on leash, although his magnificent hound nose can take over when an irresistible scent comes along, so a harness is definitely recommended over a slip lead. During his field trip, he was a little more energetic but never over the top, enjoyed plenty of human interaction, loved relaxing on the couch with his people, and did great in the car. He had no accidents inside, was wonderful for a bath, and redirects beautifully with a gentle “eh eh.” He may occasionally decide that shoes or blinds look interesting enough to investigate, and his hound instincts mean he enjoys checking out every inch of a fence line, so adopters should be mindful of his curiosity and keep him securely managed outdoors.

Outkast would absolutely love a home where he can stretch his legs, follow his nose, and enjoy plenty of sniffing adventures. A hike or long sniffari would be right up his alley, but after he has had his fun, he knows how to settle down and relax. By the end of his outing, he was happily stretched out and taking a nap, and he is perfectly content to kick back in his kennel for some peaceful downtime. He has not yet attended events with children, but nothing we have seen gives us concern. He is a sweet, goofy guy with floppy ears, a gentle soul, an independent personality, and plenty of charm. Outkast is ready to find his person and make every day a little more fun, one sniff, stroll, hug, and lounge session at a time.

Adopting from the SPCA of the Triad means giving your new companion a healthy and happy start! Our adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchipping, age-appropriate vaccinations, and heartworm testing, so you can feel confident your furry friend is ready for their new home.

Outkast also comes with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org.
