American Bulldog | 6 months old | 70 lbs (the “breeder” the family purchased Otis from said he would likely grow to 120 lbs | Male

Temperament: Loving, energetic, playful!
Activity level: Very active – has a ton of energy! Loves being outdoors. Gets walked 4-5 times daily and needs a lot of exercise.
Vetting: Vaccinated (core vaccines), Wellness blood panel and Complete blood count (CBC), Fecal (negative), dewormed, flea/tick/heartworm prevention given, microchipped.
Housebroken: Yes.
Good with Dogs? Would be best in a home with dog-savvy kids 10 and older.
Prey drive: Yes. Bunnies and squirrels beware.
Leash Etiquette: Walks well on leash. Pulls a little bit at first, or when dogs or people approach because he wants to say hello.
Response to Commands: He listens to basic commands (sit, stay, leave it, shake, down, come) most of the time. Sometimes needs repetition. Listens most of the time when off leash but should have treats available to get him back.
Noisy? Barks when he wants attention.
Crate trained? Partially.
Resource Guarding: Yes. With food, toys and other things.
Transit: Good with short car trips. Has motion sickness on longer trips.
Training: *Otis will need proper training. He will NEED a home that is calm and will only be adopted to a family with dog experience (especially bulldog experience) that can give calm consistent guidance.*
*comes with $500 of pet insurance for 6 weeks.
*bio may change as we get to know Otis better.

Otis is the most adorable puppy you ever did see. A six-month old American Bulldog (but with very Canadian values) he is sure to cuddle his way right into your heart. He is the most gorgeous shades of grey and white, but he doesn’t just rely on his good looks. Otis’ fosters describe him as loving, energetic, and playful.

He is housebroken, walks amazingly off leash and loves to play fetch off leash as well. He is working on his recall but always comes back with a treat. He is also working on his commands and is doing great with sit, stay, leave it, shake, lay down and come (is he a puppy genius!?). He is partially crate-trained and does well going into his crate.

A believer in equality, Otis loves both dogs and cats. He is extremely friendly and happy to meet other dogs but is still learning just how to play with them. He has grown up with cats and while he does chase, he really just wants to play and treats all felines with kindness and respect. Otis is amazing with children. His original owners have a two-year old with whom he has loved to play. As a puppy, however, he does love to be the center of attention and might fare better long term with older children as he learns boundaries and his place in the “pack.”

While he doesn’t bark when you leave the house, he does bark when he wants your attention. He just has so much love to give and doesn’t want you to forget it. Otis would do well in a home that provides him space to run and play and relax in the sun. He would benefit from a calm, older dog who could show him the ropes. He is a big boy and is looking for a calm, assertive leader who will love him to pieces while teaching him to share the spotlight.

In a secure, loving environment, Otis is sure to grow from adorable puppy to delightful gentleman-won’t you be his beloved family as he does so contact adopt@covetedcanines.org or fill out an application at covetedcanines.org/application
