Oshie's Story

~~Although we do our very best to make sure your new pup is in tiptop health before adoption,
things could drastically change a month later. Since we don’t have a long health history of your
adopted dog, we can only treat the pet for whatever symptoms present during the initial exam
and follow up exams.~

Health: ***** No obvious health issues found during vet exam *****

Oshie’s story is an unusual one for our rescue. Her family had an emergency overseas and could not take her with them. The last time they attempted to fly Oshie overseas, she had to ride crated in cargo. It was a traumatizing experience—she became dangerously ill, was deprived of food, water, and potty breaks. She ended up in the emergency room fighting for her life. Understandably, her family did not want to put her through that ordeal again.

With heavy hearts, they surrendered Oshie to us. After much thought, we’ve decided to try to care for her until they return—if at all possible. But Oshie comes with a very unique challenge: she mostly trusts men. She does not allow many women to handle her, which makes fostering options extremely limited.

Oshie acts nearly psychotic when women try to befriend her. It’s a very interesting behavior that we are working on correcting with love and patience. We are making progress though.

In the meantime, Oshie has already received all her vaccinations, a spay, and a microchip—things her family didn’t realize were required here in the U.S.

Aside from that, she was very loved and is in excellent health.

We had hoped when her family returns from overseas, to let them be reunited with Oshie. But her family never came back for her.
