Oscar HTX's Story

Oscar is a handsome 2-year-old Great Pyrenees mix with striking markings. Whatever the mix, one thing is certain—he’s absolutely gorgeous and has a heart just as big.

Oscar’s story didn’t start the way it should have. He was found tied up and abandoned at a dog park, unsure of the world around him and understandably a bit scared. But thanks to the patience and love of his foster home, this sweet boy has come a long way.

When Oscar first arrived, he was shy and cautious about many things. With time, encouragement, and gentle exposure to new experiences, he has truly blossomed. His foster has taken him on several outings—to places like Hobby Lobby, Lowe’s, and even out to dinner—and Oscar handled it all like a champ. He may still look to his person for reassurance, but he’s learning that the world isn’t such a scary place after all.

Oscar is very friendly with adults and enjoys being around people. Because he can still be a little nervous around young children, he would do best in a home with older kids.

This beautiful boy has already overcome a lot, and now he’s ready for the next chapter of his life—a forever home filled with patience, love, and plenty of adventures.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will reward your kindness with devotion, Oscar may be your guy.

Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
Thanks for considering rescue with TGPR! We’ll start by contacting your vet to confirm that all current pets (yes, even cats!) are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, and on heartworm prevention. Next, we’ll reach out to your three personal references to get to know you better and help identify great matches for your lifestyle. If you rent, please let your landlord know we’ll be calling to confirm large dogs are allowed. Then we’ll schedule a home visit, a friendly in-person chat to see your setup and share Pyr tips! Once approved, you’ll be able to connect with fosters to find your perfect match. Approvals are good for a year! And remember: TGPR commits to our dogs for life. If anything ever changes and you can’t keep your Pyr, we’ll always take them back. Let us know if you have any questions. We’re excited to help you find your floof!
