Oscar's Story

Oscar is currently in a foster home. If you would like to meet him, please start by visiting www.sccrescue.org and completing an application.

Meet Oscar—your new favorite couch buddy. Around 8 years old, he’s equal parts laid-back lounger and social sweetheart, with just enough pep to keep things fun. His speckled face and expressive eyes give him a one-of-a-kind charm, and his gentle, attentive nature makes it feel like he truly “gets” you. Oscar is fully house-trained (flawless, truly), crate-savvy, and wonderfully low-maintenance. Whatever his past may have been, it’s only made him softer, sweeter, and more ready to love—he’s clearly saving his best chapters for his forever home.

Oscar is a professional snuggler, a sunbeam enthusiast, and a polite treat connoisseur with impeccable manners. He loves meeting people, tagging along to kids’ sporting events (especially if snacks are involved), and settling in right beside you on the couch. Show him where his bed is once and he’s got it down—he’s the kind of dog who learns quickly and fits effortlessly into your routine. Whether you’re up for a walk or staying put for hours, Oscar is happy to match your energy.

He’s great with kids, friendly with other dogs, and endlessly affectionate. Oscar does like to “announce” when he spots other pups—it’s more excitement than anything else, and with a little guidance, he’ll learn not every sighting needs commentary. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who will happily steal your heart (and your spot on the couch), Oscar is ready to move right in.

We love our dogs. We want happy lives for all of them and are looking for the home that provides the best fit for each dog’s individual needs. Please understand that there may be multiple families interested in this dog.

Also, please know that the breed mix listed is simply a guess. In most cases, we don’t know their background. We encourage you to base your decision on individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on our guess.

Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near the Chicagoland area. Questions? Email us at adoptions@sccrescue.org. Hope to see you become part of the SCCR family!
