Oscar's Story

***Adoption fee sponsored***
***Transport available***

Oscar is a sweet, loving 10 year old. He is 40 lbs of love and energy, don't let his age fool you, he has plenty of strength and energy! He loves to run or to go for a walk, especially if there is lots of time to sniff interesting things! He would be a wonderful hiking and running partner! His also a wonderful snuggle buddy, watch your favorite movie with this guy and he'll have no complaints!!!

Oscar was adopted from ARC four years ago. His family adored him and he helped them raise their young children (ages 3 and 1). Sadly, his family decided to bring Oscar back to ARC after four years, NO FAULT OF HIS OWN!!!

He is well-mannered, knows some training cues and loves people! He recently went on a doggy slumber party with a volunteer. He stayed with her at a hotel room and did very well! He enjoyed sleeping in bed and even when they had to wake up in the middle of the night to a tornado warning, he accompanied her to the lobby, where they were directed to go for safety. He was a perfect gentleman, interacted very well with other people, enjoyed all the attention and was happy to be safe from the tornados!

Oscar would do best as an only pet. He does not do well with cats (he chases and may enjoy the hunt a little too much for their liking), he has done okay with other dogs, but he is very selective.

Oscar would do great in an active home with a SECURELY fence yard. He needs an appropriate outlet for his energy, like regular walks, runs and hikes. He loves getting out in nature where all the smells are! He loves to be with the people he knows and loves! Looking for a wonderful companion that will bend over backwards to please? Don't miss out on meeting Oscar!

Oscar just has his DNA panel done, he is a true mixed breed! He has 19 breeds identified in him, the most prominent is Australian Cattle Dog at 19%! Want to learn more about Oscar's DNA results, check out his profile here, https://www.wisdompanel.com/app/s/nqswthk

Oscar is neutered, up to date on rabies and distemper vaccines, on heartworm, flea and tick prevention, and microchipped! Plus, his adoption fee has been sponsored!!!

Interested in meeting this sweet boy? Animal Refuge Center Inc.'s Adoption Policy
The Animal Refuge Center screens all prospective pet adopters before adoption. Adopters must be prepared to provide references in order for an application to be approved. We ask for a veterinarian reference for current or past pets and we inquire as to your responsibility in keeping up with spay, neuter, vaccinations and other prevention. It will make the process faster and smoother if you ensure the information provided is accurate. Adopters must be 18 years of age or older, have a valid ID, have a phone and be responsive. Adopters must be able to financially and emotionally provide the appropriate daily care, as well as required vet visits for regular check ups and in the case of illness or injury. Adopters who rent or lease their homes must have approval from landlords or property managers to bring a new pet into the home. No gift adoptions. The primary guardian must be present for the adoption and must agree to the terms of the adoption by signing the adoption contract. Incomplete or inaccurate applications are subject to disapproval for that reason alone. Pets are family members and deserve the same respect, planning and care as any other member of a home. Please be sure you and your family are ready to commit to a pet for their entire life (up to 20+ years), including difficult times, moving, a break up, etc. We understand that life happens, but it is important to know that animals surrendered to us and other rescues/shelters are scared and confused, and they can become very depressed and sick. When you adopt you are responsible for their health and wellbeing, do right by them and they will do right by you!
