Orville's Story
AN INQUIRY FROM PETFINDER IS NOT AN APPLICATION! READ THE ENTIRE POST FOR INFORMATION HOW TO APPLY.

Meet Orville! Orville is a 9 month old male puppy and he weighs about 35 pounds. We expect him to stay under 55 pounds when full grown, but due to his unique mix, we are unable to accurately predict his actual adult weight range, so if you need a pup to stay a specific size, he is not the pup for you. Orville and his littermates arrived in rescue after being part of an accidental litter. Dad is a beagle/cavalier mix (a beagleier) and mom is a bassett hound/blue heeler mix. The pups have been raised in loving foster home and are thriving. A forever family will need to be up for all things puppy - including house training, leash training, learning what is ok to chew and not chew, as well as continued socialization. They would also do well with dog savvy kiddos. His foster mom says: Orville is a sweet, goofy, and playful boy. Although he is a unique mix, the basset characteristics seem to dominate his personality. He is good natured and affectionate but also stubborn and independent, making a challenging companion to train. A forever family will need to be up for all things puppy, including house training (the biggest hurdle), leash training (working on it), and what is ok to chew (working on that too). He can be mouthy around hands and he loves to tear up everything, including pidde pads and piddle towels. He is very vocal (loud) and will bark at strange noises and sights, so no shared walls. Since his leash training and housebreaking are still in progress, a fenced yard is a must. He is not a high energy athlete and has a low activity requirement, prefering to lounge around both inside and out. He gets along with my other dogs and cats and I believe he would do well with gentle, dog-savvy, older children. He does like to jump on people to get their attention, so no little tykes or frail adults. If you're up for the challenge, welcome Orville into your home. With love, patience, and consistency, guide him through puppyhood and watch him develop into a devoted and loyal companion.

Orville is neutered, up to date on vaccines, on flea and heartworm prevention and microchipped.

Orville is fostered in the Flagler Beach area and his adoption donation is $350. if you are interested in applying to adopt Orville, please visit www.floridalittledogrescue.com to read the adoption process and complete an application! Please note that emails simply asking "Is this dog available" will not be returned, as applications are worked in the order received and availability largely depends on when you apply:) Please also know we do not adopt out of state! Thank you!
