Oro/Bogey's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

25-062 Oro, who is now named Bogey, is a gorgeous deep-red-coated 3-year-old male purebred Golden Retriever. With the loving care of his new owner, Bogey is thriving and living his best life! This is Bogey’s story as told by the adopter:

Bogey came to me the first of October as a foster. I was told that he was found on the streets of Phoenix and had been in a shelter. He was dangerously thin. He is a sweet boy; he immediately seemed happy to have a safe place to live. The first evening he grabbed a tub of butter off the counter and devoured the entire thing. I definitely learned my lesson about watching over a dog who probably had no idea where he was getting his next meal.

Bogey’s life is a happily-ever-after story. He has been a champ through various vet appointments as well as eye surgery. The adopter and Bogey are a bonded pair! He has quickly adapted to living in his new house and is the adopter's shadow! One of his favorite activities is playing in the snow in Flagstaff, where he burrows down as deep as he can to sniff all those enticing smells. Bogey can still not be trusted with anything on the counter but is doing better and is now at his recommended weight. These are just the sweetest words from the adopter:

Bogey's most defining trait is he thinks he is a lap dog. AND never misses a chance to climb up on my lap and snuggle. Bogey is a joy, and I am lucky to have him! I get so many compliments on how good-looking he is, but the BEST is the enthusiasm he shows to me when I get home or even when I talk to him.

That is a heart warmer right there!
