So now, when someone new walks by, I don't know if I should be hopeful... or protect what's left of my heart. <br/><br/>I watch them anyway. <br/>I watch everyone who passes my kennel.<br/>I wonder if one of them might be mine.<br/>If one of them might stop... and see me. <br/>I don't ask for much.<br/>I have my Kuranda bed. <br/>It's my safe place.<br/><br/>I have a few toys I hold onto. <br/>And when someone gives me a treat... even for a second... I feel like maybe I matter. <br/><br/>What I want most... is to belong to someone. <br/>Someone who won't give up on me.<br/>Someone who understands that I might be scared sometimes... but that doesn't mean I don't love deeply.<br/><br/>Because when I love...
