Oreo's Story

Oreo (aka "Rio")<br/><br/>Meet Oreo, a loving, smart, cuddly, brave, and social nine-year-old who weighs 6 pounds! He's the sweetest, silliest boy, full of love and personality. He's low to moderate energy and people-oriented, and he's happiest lounging on the couch with his people while they watch TV or hang out with friends and family.<br/><br/>Oreo is friendly with new people and greets visitors with lots of love. He adores his foster family's senior dog and is very respectful of her, and he's friendly and polite with other dogs on the street. He'd do well as an only dog or with a canine sibling. He's potty trained and crate trained, knows sit, down, and stay, and is food motivated, so he learns quickly with treats and patience.<br/><br/>The outdoors is his favorite thing! He goes on three to four walks a day, and he's an absolute dream on the leash with no pulling. He's getting used to the hustle and bustle of city life and growing more comfortable every day. He loves cuddles, treats, and his favorite stuffed octopus, and he does adorable little spins when he's happy.<br/><br/>Oreo would do best in a calm to moderate home with a patient adopter who wants a couch buddy and a walking partner. He's a great fit for apartment living.<br/><br/>What his foster says about him:<br/>"Rio is the sweetest, silliest boy who is full of love and personality! He's such a smart, loving pup who wants to be close to his people and be part of whatever is going on."<br/><br/>INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?<br/>To adopt apply on our website [www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt](https://www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt) and email adopt@truenorthrescue.org to follow up on your application.<br/><br/>PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL TO ASK IF HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE. True North Pet Rescue Mission's Adoption Policy
First Step: Submit Your Application True North does not issue blanket approvals, we consider the needs of each specific dog when reviewing applications. If you don't have a specific dog in mind when applying, please note this on your application so that we can keep this in mind when reviewing. We require home photos for all applicants, but can accept a video replacement. Please enter as much detail as possible on your application, this helps us better understand what you are looking for and how this relates to the needs of the dog you have applied for. For puppies under 12 weeks, we require a care plan. This includes a plan for when the dog will be left alone, as puppies younger than 12 weeks should not be left alone longer than 2-3 hours at a time. Please Note: Due to the high volume of applications we receive, it is not always possible to reply to everyone. If your application is approved, you can expect the following. Second Step: Application Review & Approval 1. If your application is approved, an email will be sent connecting you with the dog's current foster. At this time, you may schedule a mutually convenient time to meet. 2. After meeting, you have 24 hours to confirm if you would like to move forward with finalizing the adoption. After this, if we have not heard from you, we will begin scheduling other meets. 3. If you choose to finalize, we will issue an adoption contract via email. Once the signed agreement has been electronically returned along with the adoption fee (which will be disclosed prior to adopting), you will be all set to coordinate for pick-up with the foster! Adoption Fees: Our adoption fees are comparable to those found amongst other well-known rescues in the city. We only accept electronic payments for adoption fees.
