Opie's Story

Opie is no fan of the boring play pen where he has been residing since arriving at the shelter. He wants to be busy -- with people and other dogs. He is sharing his current space with his companion Wilma, but he really wants to hit the road with a new family.

Opie along with several other dogs lost their owner who passed away and subsequently lost the only home they ever knew.

At just 26 lbs. and craving attention, outdoor walking, sniffing out the world, he is very friendly and easy to walk and will keep a senior person active and engaged.

Just like the others from his home, he has the lumps and bumps, semi-foggy eyes, few teeth and the common health issues that come with age, yet he still has many years to provide sweet companionship to a new family.

Senior dogs truly are a good choice for senior people. They do not require a ton of physical activity and give older people a caring purpose that benefits both themselves and the dog. Please come and meet this sweet senior.

You can visit the dogs from noon - 3 pm Saturdays and Sundays, otherwise by appointment. We always recommend submitting an application (and a copy of recent vet records for your current pets if applicable) to info@aradopt.org.

Link to application: https://www.angelridgeanimalrescue.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Dog-Application.pdf
