The one who sees his heart, his drive, and everything he’s worked so hard to become.<br/><br/>Born in December 2020, Opie is now 5 years old and 28 pounds. Before coming to us, he came from a life of neglect and instability. Somewhere along the way, he lost his trust in humans and developed fear-based behaviors.<br/>But Opie didn’t stay there.<br/><br/>With the help of an incredible professional trainer, Opie has officially completed a board and train program and has proven that he can trust again. The transformation we’ve seen in him has been nothing short of amazing, and we are so grateful for the structure, guidance, and expertise that helped him rebuild his confidence.<br/><br/>Today, Opie is a confident, capable, and incredibly fun dog.<br/>This “short stack” (mostly Cattle Dog + Dachshund, Embark tested!) is every bit a big dog in a compact body.<br/><br/>He:<br/>• Walks beautifully on a loose leash<br/>• Is neutral and confident in public (downtown, coffee shops, beach, woods — he’s done it all)<br/>• Knows Sit, Down, Stay, Come, and Place<br/>• Is e-collar conditioned for reliable recall<br/>• Is crate and potty trained<br/>• Is dog friendly (no cats)<br/><br/>Opie loves to do things. Tug is his favorite game, he’s learning fetch, and he can run, hike, or even bike alongside you. He needs regular exercise and mental stimulation — that’s the heeler in him — but once his needs are met, he settles well and enjoys being near his people.<br/><br/>His ideal home is adult-only, active, and structured. Someone who enjoys training, adventure, and holding their dog accountable in a fair, consistent way. The Bridge Between Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
We require approved applications before potential adopters can meet any of our pets, (unless we are at a public event with adoptable animals). Our adoption process is as follows: the first step is to submit an application on our website in the "adopt" tab. Then we will need to receive any veterinary records for current or previous pets. Once those are received, we reach out to references, and then set up a home visit and meet and greet for the pet the potential adopter is interested in.
