Opie's Story
Opie is one of our shelter fire survivors. He was originally part of a litter found in the woods by a good Samaritan. His foster mom says: "Opie is doing so well! He loves long walks, treats, playing with his toys and giving kisses. Opie is playful, but learning how to settle down inside. He walks very nice on a leash, is friendly to other dogs and is easy to redirect. After playing and tiring himself out, he loves to cuddle up and take a nap on the couch. Opie is crate and potty trained, and he sleeps all through the night. He is very bright, knows how to sit , wait, lay down and working on some other commands."

Notes: He is a little shy around men but warms up quickly (one of our male dog walkers walked him yesterday, and after a few treats, they were best buds!). His foster hasn't had any issues with resource guarding. She also thinks he would do well in a home with another dog. She says he is so good meeting other dogs and really follows their lead.

Opie had initially been adopted into a home with 5 children and then returned. The chaos and noise seemed to have made him anxious so now we are looking for a quieter home for him. We do not know how what he thinks of cats. Opie is about 9 months old and 45 pounds. Please help Opie find the loving family he is looking for.

Update: Opie tested positive for Ehrlicchia, a common tick borne disease similar to Lyme's. He is on a short course of antibiotic and is available for adoption. Any remaining meds can be sent home with him for completion. Opie is feeling great and is ready to go home with you!

We do NOT ship our animals. All adoptive families must travel to us to meet their adoptive dog/cat.
