Ophelia's Story
Sometimes dogs come back through no fault of their own, and Ophelia is one of them.

This beautiful Great Dane is a giant sweetheart with the people she knows and loves. She’s house-trained, enjoys her daily walks, and has so much affection to give. True to her gentle giant nature, she loves being close to her people and is happiest when she’s part of the family.

Ophelia is looking for an experienced, committed home that understands giant breeds and is willing to provide the structure and consistency she needs to thrive. She will come with a guided training plan tailored specifically to help her succeed, along with recommendations to support her continued growth, confidence, and socialization.

Because the fast-paced, unpredictable nature of young children makes her anxious, Ophelia is looking for an adult-only home or one with older, dog-savvy teens who can respect her space.

While Ophelia has successfully made canine friends through slow, thoughtful introductions, we’re currently seeking a home where she can be the only dog. As she continues to build confidence and settle into the right environment, that recommendation may evolve. If a home does have another dog, it would need to be a carefully selected companion whose energy level and play style are a great match, with introductions guided by our team.

We would love to see Ophelia placed with someone committed to continuing her training, socialization, and confidence-building work. She has shown that she can make progress when given patience, guidance, and consistency, and we believe she has the potential to continue growing in the right home.

Ophelia isn’t looking for a perfect home—she’s looking for the right one. A family that understands that trust is earned and is willing to give her the patience, consistency, and leadership she needs will be rewarded with an incredibly loyal, affectionate companion. She has so much love to give and deserves a second chance with someone who sees the wonderful dog behind her challenges.

Adoption fee is $360

Email: dogs@almosthomefoundation.org

Almost Home Foundation's adoption requirements:

(1) Be at least 21 years of age;

(2) Have the consent of all adults living in the household;

(3) Have approval from the residence owner;

(4) Have valid ID with current address;

(5) Be approved by Almost Home Foundation as a suitable adoptive home; and

`(6) Live in the suburbs surrounding Schaumburg (Illinois Residents only)

*** Please note that Almost Home Foundation accepts only cash, Zelle, or checks for adoption fees; we do not accept debit or credit cards. ***
