Onyx's Story

Meet Onyx, a 6 year old male Boxer; Seal Brindle Boxer | Professional Shadow | Squirrel Security Detail!

He is good with other dogs and kids, a stunning Seal Brindle with a glossy black coat and a heart just as big as his paws. He genuinely loves everyone he meets: dogs, kids, adults. If you've got a pulse, you're probably his friend.

His ideal day starts with a 20-30 minute morning walk, where he shines on leash. If a squirrel dares cross your path, Onyx will calmly step in front of you and keep watch until the intruder retreats. No barking, no chaos - just silent, heroic supervision.

After that, Onyx enjoys a well-balanced schedule of mini zoomies followed by very serious naps. He's the kind of dog who goes all-in during playtime, then recharges like a champ.

Onyx does just fine when left home alone, but his dream home is one where he can be with his people for most of the day. He is a true velcro dog - expect an assistant chef while you cook, a loyal co-pilot in the car, and a world-class snuggle buddy during Netflix nights.

He has an energetic play style and is currently learning to read other dogs' cues and adjust his play when needed. He's doing great with guidance and positive reinforcement.

A few important notes: He has not met cats, as his previous owners reported that he would do best in a home without cats. Onyx has allergies and requires a special diet and daily medications-this is well managed and does not stop him from living a happy, full life.

If you're looking for a loyal companion who will love you fiercely, nap enthusiastically, and guard you from squirrels with quiet dignity - Onyx might just be your perfect match!

********PLEASE READ BELOW PRIOR TO EMAILING IN**********

If you are interested in adopting this dog or any other from our rescue, please go to https://www.hobocare.org/adopt to review our home requirements and fill out an application.
