Onyx's Story

While we are generally a breed specific group, when one of our fosters took in a small litter of German Shepherd puppies, we couldn't say no to helping these babies find their forever homes.

Meet Onyx, a 5‑month‑old German Shepherd puppy who is just beginning to discover how wonderful life can be. This sweet boy’s world was turned upside down when he was surrendered after he, his sister, and their mother went on the run together. Through no fault of his own, Onyx found himself needing a fresh start — and a family to call his own.
Onyx didn’t get the chance to experience much socialization early on, but in his foster home he’s slowly learning what it means to feel safe, loved, and cared for. With patience, kindness, and continued training, this gentle soul has so much potential to blossom into an amazing companion.
He finds joy in the simple things: playing with his sisters, chasing toys, and happily romping around the yard. He’s already very food‑motivated, which makes training a great bonding opportunity. Onyx would thrive in a home that understands he’s still learning and is willing to guide him with compassion. A calm, friendly canine sibling could also help show him the ropes and build his confidence.
Onyx is looking for someone who will see not just who he is today, but who he can become — a loyal, loving best friend. If you think you could be the one to help this special pup write his next chapter, please fill out an application at www.dvdpa.org.
