Learning How to Dog

Onyx is discovering something that sounds incredibly simple:

Being a dog can actually be pretty fun.

Onyx came to Meraki from the OKC euthanasia list with her tiny, one-week-old nuggets in tow. Motherhood definitely wasn't her calling , but she got through that chapter, raised those babies, went through heartworm treatment, and now she's finally ready for the part we've been waiting for:

Her forever.

These days we're getting to watch Onyx figure out who Onyx is when there aren't puppies or treatments involved.

One of her biggest changes has been outside.

For a long time, heading outdoors wasn't something Onyx particularly enjoyed. Now she's starting to realize the yard isn't so bad after all. She's spending more time exploring, sniffing around and slowly discovering that there might actually be something to this whole running-around-being-a-dog thing.

She's still figuring life out, and that's part of what makes watching

One of her biggest changes has been outside.

For a long time, heading outdoors wasn't something Onyx particularly enjoyed. Now she's starting to realize the yard isn't so bad after all. She's spending more time exploring, sniffing around and slowly discovering that there might actually be something to this whole running-around-being-a-dog thing.

She's still figuring life out, and that's part of what makes watching her grow so special. There are experiences other dogs take completely for granted that are still new discoveries for Onyx.

She doesn't need somebody expecting a perfectly finished dog.

She needs someone who'll enjoy watching the rest of her personality unfold.

Because after everything that came before...

We're finally getting to meet Onyx.
