ONI's Story

Oni’s story hasn’t been the easiest—but her heart is soft, hopeful, and ready to trust again.

When she first arrived, her scars told a story of a rough past. She was shy, scared, and unsure of the world around her. At times, she would let out a low growl when frightened, just asking for space. But with patience, kindness, and gentle care from staff and volunteers, Oni has begun to blossom. These days, she no longer hides away—she’ll come right up to her kennel gate, ready to go out and spend time with her person.

Oni is a quiet, soulful girl who prefers companionship over toys. She has a beautiful way of gazing up at you with soft, searching eyes, as if she’s learning what it means to feel safe and loved. She walks easily on leash, knows “sit,” and is happily past her puppy chaos days. She enjoys treats (and is quite the snuffle mat pro!) and finds comfort in calm, steady routines.

She’s currently living with a puppy and doing well, but would thrive in a patient, understanding home—one that can offer her a peaceful environment and the time she needs to fully come out of her shell.

If you’re looking for a deeply loyal companion and have a gentle heart to match hers, Oni may be the one who changes your life as much as you change hers.

Oni has participated in shelter playgroups and may enjoy a compatible canine friend in her new home. She loves the company of other dogs and would benefit from a home with one or more dogs that could help her learn to trust humans. She's currently sharing her shelter kennel with a shy puppy she met at the shelter that needed a friend. Looking for a buddy for your dog? Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we're a match! Check out her playgroup video here:

To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis.
