Meet Ollie Boy<br/><br/>Ollie is one of the cutest dogs at HSNBA. This guy will hug and kiss you if you are "one<br/>of his people". Currently listed as a Labrador Retriever, but more probably a Boxer mix,<br/>which would explain his pretty Tricolor markings.<br/><br/>Ollie's favorite pastimes are walks, car rides, belly rubs, chews and squeaky toys. He is<br/>great on a leash and walks without pulling. He responds reliably to known cues like Sit,<br/>Down, Wait and Touch and is working on other commands.<br/><br/>Ollie has been in the care of HSNBA since just after Christmas 2025. Unfortunately<br/>shelter life has taken its toll on him. He has become reactive to strangers in general. He<br/>needs his "safe distance" until trust is developed. Consequently, he was placed on a<br/>Euthanasia list and at that point I fostered him. I'm lucky enough to be one of his<br/>trusted people.<br/><br/>To set Ollie up for long-term success, he requires a low-traffic, adult-only household with<br/>no more than one or two occupants. A securely fenced yard is preferred so he can<br/>decompress off leash without exposure to public triggers. Ollie does well being left<br/>alone or crated. He is house trained and not at all destructive. He rarely barks and is<br/>calm and quiet when relaxed.<br/><br/>This placement requires an experienced handler who understands subtle canine body<br/>language, spatial management, and positive guidance. Ollie is not suitable for first-time<br/>owners or high-activity homes with frequent guests. He needs an owner who can<br/>recognize and respect his insecurities and guide him through those "stranger danger"<br/>moments. He can be playful with other dogs but (as with people) the introduction needs<br/>to be slow and structured.<br/><br/>If you can win this guy's heart he will certainly win yours. I assure you that if you are<br/>willing to take that journey with him you will be rewarded with one of the most loving<br/>creatures on this planet.<br/>Ollie is currently in a foster home and is not housed at the shelter facility.
