Ollie's Story

9/10/26

Look how good our Ollie looks now! A special Thank You to Karol's Canine Cuts in Watertown for donating a sweet new look and groom to our boy!

Are you looking for a dog pal? Would you like to have a friend with a little pep in their step, smile on their face and more bounce per ounce then most of our dogs? If you answered yes to any of these, Ollie may be perfect for you!

Everyone meet Ollie, one of the 2 severly neglected dogs found together as strays in KY, severely matted, malnourished and vision impared. We are looking for a foster to adopt home to give him a chance at life, love and forever companionship.

Ollie is likely a poodle possibly maltese mix, 4-5 years old and 15#. He has mature catararacts in both eyes causing him to be blind. He is a super good boy, despite his disability and likes being cuddled and held. He is good for his walks and will hold it to potty outside. He memorizes the terrain on his walks so that he doesn't bump into things along the way as long as you "show" him if things have changed. He will memorize the layout of his new home if given the chance and being allowed to show himself around. He seems to "sniff out" and sense objects as long as going slow but may fumble a bit if he is in zoomie mode. He is crate trained, but enjoys being a part of the action as well and likes being out with his people. We think he deserves to part of a family rather then in boarding, don't you?

He is not on any medication at this time aside from heartworm/flea/tick preventatives. His eyes should be checked every 6 months or so to be sure no new changes have occurred and will need a little time to settle in to a new home but his special needs don't seem to be debilitating and he should be able to live a normal lifespan.

Due to his size and special medical needs, foster to adopt requirements are:

•Living within 80 miles of Adams, NY.
•Having previous/current pets in annually at a local veterinary office and up to date on vaccines as well as spay/neutered.
•Being able to bring each back to our vets office in Adams for additional care, prior to adoption. •After adoption, we recommend taking them to your current vet to be established.
•Ollie is a cuddler, so he should be good with children over 12 years old, likesized dogs and cats.
•Willing to have current family members come to a meet and greet to meet the pet and be sure an acceptable match.
•Having time available to care for, socialize and start the training of a new pet.
•Due to his vision loss, a home with a physical fence is preferred.

An adoption donation of $500 is being asked, if you choose to adopt, but fostering is free. He had his initial vet check, is current on vaccines, dewormings and prescription flea and tick medications and has been neutered.

The first step in our adoption process is the veterinary reference check so please be sure to call your veterinarian's office so we can get this step out of the way.

Please help us to continue helping those that knock on our doors!

To foster to adopt: https://form.jotform.com/Meowchatz/pet-adoption-application-form

To foster ONLY: https://form.jotform.com/Meowchatz/foster-application--acbs

7/19/26

More info coming soon

--------------
Foster to adopt pets are limited to an 80 mile radius of Adams, NY and pets must be taken to our vets office for care until adoption.

All pets must be viewed in person by all family members prior to adoption; animals will not be shipped to their new homes. Dogs in the home must come to the meet and greet as well to be sure they will get along with the new pet. Veterinary reference check and adoption donation also required. Check out our homepage for a full list of our adoption requirements.

http://allcreaturesbigandsmall.petfinder.com Prevent pet overpopulation, spay and neuter your pets!

All Creatures Big And Small, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
All Creatures Big and Small is a foster based rescue, all of our animals are in foster homes. Since we don't have a shelter building, meet and greets are arranged after an application has been approved typically in the foster home. Foster homes are in Jefferson, Oswego and Onondaga counties (NY). The first step in our adoption process is filling out an adoption application. Please be sure to read the application and follow instructions. You MUST contact your current/previous vet upon filling out your application to say it's ok to release veterinary information to us. Once the vet reference check has been completed you will review an email or phone call from our dog or cat coordinator for additional information and to do a phone interview. This typically takes place within 24-72 hours. If all goes well, a meet and greet is scheduled. All family members must come to the meet and greet (including dogs) to make sure it is a good match and everyone is on board to adopt a new pet. If it is decided that the pet is a good match, an adoption can be done at that time and the pet can go home with you All adopters must live within 500 miles of Lacona, NY. We will not ship pets and all family members must travel to the adoption to be sure the pets and family are good with the potential new adoption.
