Ollie's Story

Meet Ollie!
He is a year old, weighs 45 pounds, is neutered, and is male.
Sometimes the road to a happily ever after has a heartbreaking detour. Ollie was adopted from a shelter as a puppy, only to be returned later in terrible shape, undernourished, neglected, and completely shut down. Terrified and out of options, he was placed on the euthanasia list. But with just one hour to spare, a wonderful foster stepped up, and we were able to save his life.
Since then, Ollie has shown us what resilience looks like. He is the ultimate companion, a loyal shadow who is always ready to help with household chores, tag along on car rides, or join you on errands. When he is not on duty as your personal assistant, his favorite things are walks, playtime, dinner, cookies, and, most of all, cuddle time. He is already house trained, knows his basic commands, and is actively working on learning new life skills. He even walks well on a leash, though he prefers to wander in happy, curious zig zags rather than a straight line.
To help Ollie continue to thrive, he does have a few specific needs for his future home. First, he must have a confident dog sibling in his new family. Ollie absolutely loves other dogs, and having a canine buddy is essential to helping him realize that the world and humans can be safe and loving. Because he loves a good game of chase in the yard with his foster siblings, we are looking for a home without cats or very small dogs.
Additionally, Ollie carries some trauma around confinement. While he is house trained, being in a crate or a shelter kennel causes him to panic, and he can react fearfully if a stranger approaches him while he is crated. Because of this, he needs an understanding home with older children who respect his boundaries and will not accidentally corner or confine him.
Ollie has so much love left to give, and all he needs is a patient family ready to let him bloom at his own pace. Could you be Ollie's safe haven?

The Atlantic Paws Project's Adoption Policy
At The Atlantic Paws Project, our adoption policies are designed to ensure that every dog is placed in a loving, permanent home as a cherished family member. We require adopters to provide a "nonrefundable" donation to support our rescue efforts and commit to high standards of care, which includes keeping the dog primarily indoors with full house privileges, providing quality nutrition, and ensuring they are never used as guard animals or transported in open vehicles. Adopters assume full responsibility for all veterinary care including maintaining current vaccinations, heartworm, and flea/tick preventatives and must keep microchip information up to date. If behavioral challenges arise, we require owners to work with a professional trainer to resolve them; however, if an adoption cannot continue for any reason, the dog must be returned to us rather than being sold or rehomed elsewhere. Ultimately, we view adoption as a lifelong commitment, and while we provide all known health and temp
