Olivia's Story

She was so sad and afraid when she first came to the shelter and met her foster family .She loves baths, and if anxious she will pant. Olivia wants someone to be just hers and her their's. She would do well on a home with a mature couple where one is home or a retired fit person and no kids, she would not do well with other dogs but cats would be fine.
Olivia has come a long way with trust and sometimes will still hesitate with hand movements, go slow. She loves tummy rubs once she's comfortable and the top of her head being patted. She likes to sit beside you close and on the back of a chair where she can see out a window. She will bark at some passerbys and is getting better with no barking with a few simples shhhs, or get down .
Olivia loves the outdoors and with a fenced in safe yard is happy to do her business out there as soon as put out. Her recall needs work as when she is called to come she seems unsure that she can come in the house. patience is needed to work on that but picking her up to take in works. She knows the word stay and that helps slow her down .She does use the pee pad in the house and sometimes not.
If you are going out she wouldn't do good kenneled in the house but would do well in a room with a baby gate or pen, no carpet, with a pee pad, water and soft toy.
Olivia has had to learn to be a dog and socialized. She wants to be close to you but also like her space. She wants to sleep with you but will lay at the bottom of the bed when settling. She prefers women to men, doesn't play with toys but likes to sift ones near her.
She is lovable and has much love to give the right people. She needs patience, kindness, respect and caring and she will reward you with the same . My hope is that she finds her person or persons and can be the free pup she should be.
-Foster mom Loretta
