Oliver's Story

Oliver, aka Ollipop, is an energetic 8-year-old long-haired dachshund who is on the hunt for his forever home.

Oliver might be heading into his senior years, but he has the boundless energy of a young pup! He has been nonstop in his foster home - jumping on and off of furniture with ease and running circles around his foster brothers. He has a sweet temperament and won't take no for an answer when it comes to giving kisses (whether you like it or not!). He has learned to love playing with his foster brothers and would do well in a home with a tolerant dog who will continue his education on “how to dog.”

Oliver has had challenges with potty training and will need a very patient family that will stick with a routine that sets him up for success. While he's making strides every day, his forever family will need to understand that his lifelong habits will not change overnight.

While Oliver loves to take walks, he gets a little upset when he sees other dogs or humans on his route. His reactivity isn't insurmountable, but it will require some training to curb so he can feel secure and confident taking walks and encountering new friends.

Oliver has shown some nervousness around children and might prefer a home without children, or with older children who have had experience with dogs and know to give him space when he needs it.

While there are some hurdles to hop with this little dachshund, with love and a patient home, he will settle into being a beloved member of a family in no time.

Oliver weighs 14 pounds. He is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines, and current on heartworm, flea, and tick prevention. His adoption fee is $300. Ready to Meet Oliver?
