Oliver's Story

Oliver is super cute and FULL of energy when working a crowd. Oliver can also be mellow and chill but when he knows there’s attention to be got he’s all about it AND he’s gonna get ALL that he can!! Oliver is very friendly with people but can be just slightly shy until he knows “I’m good” and then the volume gets turned up. He is very playful and he would probably be really great with kids, but he needs to have some training on etiquette with jumping on people and pressure points when he is mouthing or not to mouth at all. He’s very adventurous and curious. It seems that he might have been a family backyard dog, but didn’t have any direction or had inexperienced owners that really failed him to this point. Not that he is super out of control or a bad dog, he just needs to be toned down a little bit and of course that will improve with more attention and direction and proper training. The reason we think he was a backyard dog is he always looks for a way to get through a fence, so he might’ve been a runner or an escape artist as he probably didn’t get the attention that a young definitely needs. He was found at a local regional park where nobody has claimed him from his found posts. He loves attention and he’s young so he was doing anything to find attention somewhere or anywhere! He has had his first meeting with a home that had cats but he was pretty reactive initially though with some stern verbal cues he tuned down and actually semi shut down. He reacted as if he had never been even verbally handled that way, and got very submissive - that was all new to him. Therefore, we think he can train fairly quickly and could acclimate to a home with cats, but it would take some work as he’s already behind the eight ball overall with proper etiquette. He’s a very loving and very sweet dog. He is full of life! . He is just going be a little bit of work in the beginning months with training and very tentative handling so he doesn’t escape. Given time to grab some rules under his belt and get a real connection to his forever humans. A lot of these factors will go away. We’re looking for a home that knows the responsibility behind this and wants to put the work in. He’ll turn out to be a super dog in the right hands. He’s definitely an attention grabber AND attention hog when allowed. He has been crated and handled it well. In the crate he gets vocal only when he needs something so the communication level is there just needs the proper training and response to his cues like when he’s had to go outside to round out great coexisting with his humans! Given time he’ll be really super great dog - lots of fun and love is in his future with his humans - we see it!
We don’t know really what breed Oliver is, but we think he might be a Damchi or a Kokoni Mix.

For more information regarding Oliver, please email us at:
Paradeofpawsrescue@gmail.com

Or for faster response:
TEXT OR CALL:
520-483-9207 or
323-558-8094
