Olive's Story

Meet the “Tree” litter from southeast Missouri! 🌳 Please welcome Ash, Aspen, Birch, Cypress, Oakley, Olive, Maple, and Willow. These sweet pups were born outdoors on November 18 and had never been inside a home until the day they were rescued.

We’re incredibly grateful that their owner chose to surrender them, giving these puppies the chance at a life filled with love, comfort, and plenty of snuggles. Mama appears to be a black Lab mix, and we suspect Dad may have had some Great Pyrenees in him—several of the pups have rear double dewclaws, a common Pyrenees trait.

Breed guesses aside, one thing is certain: these are classic southeast Missouri mixed-breed pups! At the time of rescue, they ranged in size from just 5 pounds to a whopping 14.5 pounds, making each one as unique as the next.

Olive is one of the smallest in her litter, she has a quiet, observant disposition. Olive can be shy when first meeting new human friends, and is quickly building confidence from a positive environment with her foster family!

While Olive isn’t afraid of things, she is cautiously curious. She may do best with a family who has a dog already, as she enjoys following her foster family dog’s lead. It’s apparent it’s helping her build confidence! She is being desensitized to louder noises (she was initially afraid of them), and shows no signs of food aggression, and loves children of all ages. Olive is not aggressive toward animals (other dogs, cats, and oddly... guinea pigs).

For playtime, this cutie LOVES to play with rope toys and chase her own tail. She comes on recall to her name, and is working on “sit/lie down/bed” commands. She’s a real smarty pants who enjoys a belly scratch and good snuggle.

If you are interested in one of our puppies, the first step is to go to our website and fill out an application. https://placingpawsrescue.org/applications/dog-application/

BEFORE CONSIDERING A PUPPY FOR ADOPTION: Please keep in mind that puppies need attention during the day. They need frequent potty breaks, playtime, socialization and often a mid day meal. Please consider your daytime schedule before applying for a puppy.
