Olive's Story

Olive
3 years old (approx.)
Spayed female
Pitbull mix, Fully vetted

Olive is a petite little 40lb black pittie mix with the softest eyes and the most sensitive soul. She's been in a loving foster home for over a year, briefly found what we hoped was her forever home... and then was returned when it wasn't the right fit. Through it all, she has remained gentle, adaptable, and deeply devoted to her people.

She is not a plug-and-play dog. She is a loyal, protective, tender-hearted girl who bonds hard and feels deeply. And in the right environment? She absolutely flourishes.

Dogs: Olive is dog-friendly and does beautifully with dogs her size or larger. She has lived successfully with multiple dogs of different personalities and energy levels. She plays appropriately, accepts corrections, and can also just coexist peacefully. Her foster truly believes another confident dog in the home would help her adjust more quickly... but she could also live happily as an only dog in the right setup.

Cats: She has had brief cat exposure and was easily redirected. Slow, structured introductions would be necessary. The easiest match would be a no-cat home, but we are open-minded with the right guidance and management.

Kids: She previously had a positive sleepover with kids and did well. However, due to her sensitive and protective nature, we are prioritizing calm, predictable households.

Crate & House Manners: She is WONDERFUL in her crate. Settles easily. Excellent house manners. Not destructive. She knows how to relax and nap, but will also toss toys in the air and entertain herself in the cutest ways. She's playful when the vibe is playful and chill when its time to decompress.

Energy Level: Moderate. She enjoys playtime and walks but is not bouncing off the walls. She's happy to match the energy of her home.

The Important Part (Transparency Matters): Olive is fearful and wary of men. In her brief adoptive home, reacted poorly to a strange man that entered the house. She reacted in a fear-based and protective manner. We would love for her to go to a home with just females if possible... but we have seen her be fine with male humans when she is properly introduced and given time to adjust. An experienced home willing to do slow, structured introductions and management to men, especially new men, would be perfectly fine as well.

She is also incredibly sensitive emotionally. When adopted, she reportedly shut down for several days. After returning to foster (after nearly a year together), it took her about two weeks to fully bounce back. She bonds deeply and needs stability.

Fence Note: She reportedly jumped a 4ft wall in the past, but has not jumped a 6ft fence or baby gates in foster care. Like most dogs... She should not be left unattended outside.

In short, Olive is a loyal, affectionate, silly, toy-tossing, deeply devoted companion who just needs the right environment to feel safe. She is not for everyone... but for her person, she will be everything.
