****We are Pets Are Worth Saving (P.A.W.S) – Stephenville, TX - We are a small, foster based animal rescue, 501(c)3 non-profit organization, based out of Stephenville, TX. We work to rehabilitate and rehome unwanted cats and dogs in Stephenville and surrounding towns. We have recently expanded our scope to include Hamilton County, TX and are currently working with the City of Hamilton and the Hico Police Department to find loving foster and permanent homes for dogs that have been abandoned and have ended up in the Hamilton Pound or the Hico Animal Shelter. <br/> Pets Are Worth Saving (P.A.W.S.)’s mission is to sponsor low cost spay/neuter and wellness exams, provide community education and provide food and supplies to those in need. We also do our best to find loving homes for abandoned, neglected, or abused animals. Our animals are vaccinated and on preventatives. Okra would really love to love you.<br/><br/>Meet Okra!<br/><br/>Okra was picked up by the Hamilton, TX ACO after the people who found her wandering the streets, (yes, she was abandoned), decided not to keep her. Not her fault!!! Okra would really love a permanent home with people to love.<br/><br/>Okra is a very sweet dog, who loves people, but can be a little shy initially. We think she’s some sort of Collie mix. She recently weighed in at 35 lbs, she’s about a year old, spayed, heartworm negative, up to date on vaccines, rabies, Bordatella, and on preventatives for fleas/ticks/heartworms. <br/><br/>Okra is house and doggie door trained, walks well on leash, once she gets over her initial excitement of being out of her kennel. She takes a moment to decide if she likes other dogs. She’s initially wary, but then usually wants to play. She can be growly at some dogs. We think it's her way of saying "I'm not sure about you, so please back off." once she's comfortable, it's play on! We recommend slow introductions. We don’t know how she is with cats or livestock.<br/><br/>Okra is an odd one because either someone did a bad job of docking her tail, or perhaps something happened to it, or she was born this way. Whatever, the story is, her tail is much shorter than we think it should be. <br/><br/>Okra has a lot of love to give to the right person or family.
