Okra's Story

*****We are Good Catch Dog Rescue. The dogs in our care are fostered by either ourselves or close friends. We are in Texas, and we transport our dogs North because TX is flooded with unwanted dogs already.
All of our dogs are vaccinated and on preventatives. Dogs older than 6 months are spayed or neutered. Our dogs live with us, not in boarding, and they are part of our family. Please visit our website: goodcatchdogrescue.org to learn more about our family and our dogs.*****

Okra was rescued from a small shelter in Hamilton, TX, where dogs unfortunately receive limited exposure unless they are placed in foster homes. She is about 1½ years old and has a docked tail. We’re unsure whether she was born that way or if it was done when she was a puppy, but rest assured, there’s still plenty of tail to wag when she meets new friends.

Weighing 48 pounds, Okra has truly blossomed since entering rescue with Good Catch. She is now a confident, happy, and well-enriched pup. She lives harmoniously with a few close dog friends who match her playful energy, and she absolutely adores her foster dad.

Okra appears to be mostly Border Collie with a noticeable hound influence (see her Wisdom Panel DNA results by visiting our website). She has a wonderful balance of playfulness and calm and after getting her exercise, she’s perfectly content to relax on the couch for much of the day.

She does great in her crate and often chooses to hang out there even with the door open. Okra is both leash trained and house trained, though she prefers to potty privately rather than on leash, making a fenced yard her ideal setup. She’s a good fit for families with children of all ages, but cats are not a match; Okra would much rather chase a cat than befriend one.

This sweet girl is fully vetted, microchipped, and has received a ProHeart 12 injection, providing a full year of heartworm prevention. Okra will make a wonderful addition to a lucky family, and we can’t wait to help her find her perfect match!

All of our adopted dogs are transported using only trusted, reputable transport partners to ensure a safe journey to their forever homes up North.
