Odie's Story

Odie(grey harness/blue sweater) is a 2 year, 8 month year old black-and-tan dachshund. He is healthy other than needing to lose a significant amount of weight. He is currently in our best "boot camp" foster.

Odie is a typical lively, goofy young guy- he loves to play with his toys and even enjoys walks. He arrived with his brother, Tucker, but they have developed a pack mentality, so Odie needs a strong owner who understands how to introduce him to new dogs and people. After introductions, he does well and is great with people and dogs. Odie enjoys other dogs but adores humans. He will sneak attack you with kisses if you lock eyes for two long in close range! He would love a home with another friendly doxie and a human who will take him with them wherever they go. He would benefit from doggie day care on a regular basis if he cannot join his human in their travels/at work.

Odie is good about pottying on command but sometimes has poop accidents in the house. Although we haven't tested it, we were told he knows how to ring a bell to go outside.

We are accepting applications for both Odie and Tucker together and independently. However, Odie's forever home will need to be structured and excellent with behavioral training.

To be considered, please apply on our website:

https://www.portlanddachshundrescue.org/adoptionform

Criteria:
*Home with a fenced yard
*Ability to socialize a dog in day care, puppy classes or by taking him to work regularly
* Ideally would have other young small dogs to play with
* No children but teens (13+) ok if home is structure and doesn't have a lot of young visitors
