Odie Pit Bull Terrier Mix Fayette, MO

Odie came to ARFF MO as a stray at 6 months of age. He is now 5 years old. Odie knows how to sit and down on command, catch treats, and shake hands with you. Odie was never socialized with other dogs (likely weaned from his mama at 4 weeks of age) and he needs help with initial introductions by his handler. ARFF MO has worrked wth a trainer on teaching Odie to be calm around other dogs and he has made great strides. Odie has never been aggressive, rather he prefers to wrap his legs around a dog's neck and lick them in the face, which most dogs do not appreciate. He is a very high energy boy and some dogs are put off by his energy level. He would do best with someone experienced with working with strong dogs. He is a quick learner and is very "treat motivated". Odie would probably be best as the only dog unless someone wants to take the time to work with him and their other dog. Odie is predatory with cats so he would need a home without them. He is also much too energetic to live with a small dog. Small children are out due to his energy level. Odie is crate trained and house trained. He loves to play with toys.Odie requires his adopter to own their own home and to have a very secure, fenced yard. Odie is a sweetheart of a dog that likes to snuggle. Odie had a torn ACL injury 3 years ago that has healed but he is on medication daily for arthritis from the injury.
