Odette's Story
Meet Odette! This plump little loaf was built not for speed, but for presence, and she is ready to be your tiny, soulful, slightly dramatic shadow.

Odette has eyes that will stop you mid-sentence and make you question every life choice you’ve ever made—in a good way. She will absolutely require you to accept being stared at with intense love on a regular basis, and has a semi-permanent smirk on her face like she's just heard a secret that no one else knows.

We belierve Odette is not a actually a dog, but a dog-person. Because Odette doesn’t just have feelings: she has opinions, thoughts, and a deep emotional attachment to knowing your whereabouts at all times. If you change rooms without properly notifying her, expect a gentle but passionate “woof woof AWOO!” until she locates you again. Odette is a firm believer that communication is important in any relationship.

Odette is shy, sensitive, and deeply loyal. The kind of girl who takes a minute to open up, but is all in once she does. She lives for soft, luxurious setups (think blanket piles, pillow thrones, cozy couch corners) and would very much like to be nestled beside you while you both pretend you’re not codependent. She loves belly rubs, slow backyard strolls at her own pace (she'd love a home with a fenced-in yard), and quietly snuggling up with her person. She wants you in her line of sight at all times, including when she's sleeping. While she has some separation anxiety initially, it subsides as she learns she can trust that you'll always come back to her.

Odette is looking for a calm, predictable home where someone is home with her most of the time. If you work from home, are retired, or just love being home, she is your girl. She would do best in a quiet home without young children and with people who understand that love sometimes initially looks like space and patience, and then nonstop snuggling. She would love to join a home with other canine siblings, but would be fine as your one and only as well. A home with carpet or plenty of rugs would be ideal since hard floors are tricky for her little legs.

Like many senior ladies, Odette has knee issues that give her a wobbly gait. She needs to be carried up and down stairs like the queen she is, and takes pain medication long-term to help manage any discomfort. She recently had a mammary mass removed and is awaiting biopsy results. In the meantime, her vibe is chill, her expectations are simple, and her greatest joy is just being with you. Also, her paws are perfectly round. Cartoonishly round. Illegal levels of cute.

Odette walks well on the leash, is a great co-pilot in the car, and regularly sleeps through the night. She's making great progress on housetraining and is a pro with pee pads. She may have the occasional potty mishap while initially adjusting to her new home, but will be great once she's settled in.

Odette is not the life of the party. She is not your hiking buddy. She is not here for chaos. She is here to be your quiet, devoted, slightly anxious, deeply loving little shadow—the one who watches you, waits for you, and loves you with her whole entire tiny, wobbly body.

If you’re the kind of person who understands that kind of love, she’s been waiting for you!

Odette is approximately 12 years and 10 lbs.

Fostered in Woodbridge, VA
Please apply at MirisHaven.org
