Oci's Story

When he was around 4 months old, Oci wandered into a tree nursery looking for shelter and food. The caretaker of the place took pity on the poor starving puppy and took Oci in. For 3 months, he raised and cared for Oci and a friendship blossomed between the two. However, one day the owner of the nursery began to mistreat Oci by kicking him and throwing rocks. Saddened by this turn of events and desperate to get Oci to safety, the caretaker found a foster for the pup. While at his foster home, Oci learned all the basics of being a dog, never having experienced these things before. He was afraid of the leash and didn’t know how to drink water from a bowl. Such things were foreign to him. But once Oci trusted his foster mom, his whole world opened up and now he cherishes new experiences. He really loves people, always greeting you with a waggy tail and a belly ready for rubbing! Oci still needs some training but would thrive in a home that would be patient with him while he learns and grows.

Oci is an American Bulldog mix, weighing in at nearly 75lb. He is around 2 years old and comes vetted, vaccinated and neutered. Oci is house trained, rides well in a car, knows some basic commands and is working on leash etiquette. He does well with strangers, but is selective about his k9 companions preferring dogs larger in stature or of the female variety.

Please contact with any questions or to schedule a meet and greet.
Home checks are required. Please do not contact if you are not willing to allow a home visit.
Rehoming donation appreciated!

Pawareness Foundation, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
We advertise adoptable animals to the general public through various websites. All interests are vetted via text/phone call, and those that meet the criteria are invited to a meet and greet, including their pets and family (usually at a public place like a park). If the meet goes well, then we require an application; upon receipt of application, we run a background check and call vet references / personal references listed. If the application passes review (usually takes a couple of days) we set up the adoption. Usually, I prefer to do the home visit at the same time as the adoption, so that I can drop off the animal and help the adopters intro to the new home and family. However, if the travel is too far (as we adopt in a large radius), I do a virtual home visit with a video call and we set up a halfway meet or they come pick up the animal after the virtual home visit is completed.
