Oakley's Story

Introducing Heath, an exceedingly handsome fox red Lab who has a reputation of being an excellent ambassador of the Lab Breed! He’s sweet, handsome and mostly goes with the flow. He’s not afraid to ask for more pets ! On walks we’re sure he wonders why everyone isn’t stopping to pet him with his classic Lab smile. Heath is about 5.5 years old and a trim athletic 67 pounds. He was abandoned on a rural property and taken to a shelter. Our partner got him out and safely to us.

Heath is house trained, enjoys his crate and has commendable house manners. He loves treats and knows sit, down and shake. A typical Lab, Heath is a friendly greeter and gets along well with other dogs; cats prefer he live elsewhere.

Heath is enrolled in a personalized board and train program where he is working on his leash and “outside” manners. When outside he’s on high alert for critters. This can make walks and outdoor activities together challenging. He’s making good progress on learning to focus on his person when outside, and to just relax and enjoy a good old fashioned “sniff-ari”. (video) His trainer remarks Heath is genuinely a good boy, calm, intelligent and highly responsive to leadership.

The ideal family for Heath will an active one with a clear, calm, and capable leader who will provide Heath the structure and trust he needs to be is best self. We will provide follow up lessons for his new family with his trainer to help everyone be successful.

“So, grab some treats and let’s get acquainted. I’d love to sit and stay with you forever!” wags Heath, a very good boy.

NOTE: Heath is a very athletic Lab and requires a yard with a 6 foot fence with the smooth side facing the yard.
