Oakley's Story

Meet Oakley

Oakley is an approximately 10-month-old, 10-pound Shih Tzu mix who was found behind a dumpster back in January. The poor kid could barely move due to so many sand spurs stuck in his matted fur. Grooming and fleas were addressed quickly, and when no owner was found, it was time to get this boy ready for his FUREVER HOME.

Vaccinated, neutered, dangling dew claws addressed, baby teeth that didn't fall out removed while under, and chipped - this kid is ready for his next and final chapter.

Because Oakley struggles a bit with separation anxiety and still needs work with leash training, apartment living wouldn't be ideal (your neighbors would agree ). A secure yard would give him a safe place to practice, build confidence, and reduce the risk of him bolting when he's feeling unsure.

Oakley needs someone who is ready to help him become a more confident kid with patience, training, and consistency. He is already making progress and will shine as a little adventure buddy with the right person(s).

Oakley believes his job is to alert and protect - no one can walk back into the room (after just walking out) without Oakley announcing it. He can also be a bit mouthy, so a home with small children may not be the most ideal.

Once he connects with you, you'll have a little love sponge who will adore you and want to be your constant shadow. Oakley is currently living with multiple other small dogs and does okay with them, although his first interactions can be a little in-your-face and snarky.

Looking for an Adventure Buddy to bond with, teach trust, and seize each day with?
So is Oakley!!

Adoption radius: 150 miles from Jacksonville, FL
Other pets must be vaccinated, spayed/neutered & on heartworm prevention
Apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/PPFL-A-4052
