Meet Oakley
Oakley was found running as a stray and was taken to a Humane Society in Indiana. He was adopted out, but people are quick to give up on dogs so Oakley was returned.
Oakley has been in his foster home sometime so we know more about what kind of home he is looking for. Oakley is only around 1.5 years old. He would love a home where someone was home a good deal of the time. He likes to have all the attention himself, so no other animals in the house suits him best. He is easy to handle as he is a small boy who is under 50 pounds.
He doesn't mind a winter sweatshirt and looks pretty darn fashionable wearing it! He is a very smart boy and very treat motivated; he learns things quickly. Oakley seems much more comfortable now that his eye removed. He had a cataract in one eye, which wasn't the norm for a one year old. We saw an eye specialist who said his eye had increased pressure and was most likely giving him constant pain. He is now pain free and can see perfectly from his right eye.
Oakley is better suited for a home with a physical fence. He is fully vetted and ready to go home. He loves to snuggle, get belly rubs to hang out with his people. It's important to Oakley to have a very comfy bed to sleep upon and likes plenty of food all by himself. He needs fed separately from other animals. Foster mom will explain how to feed Oakley.
Since Oakley's former homes completely gave up on him, he needs training with a trainer, which is mandatory with his adoption for bonding. We want to be sure when he moves to another home it is the last time he has to move. If you have children in your home, we want to make sure they are older teenagers (around 16) so you have time for Oakley.
