NYLA-ALABAMA's Story
*PETFINDER INQUIRIES WILL NOT BE ANSWERED. PLEASE COMPLETE OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION AFTER READING HER FULL ADOPTION LISTING. THE ADOPTION APPLICATION IS LOCATED ON OUR WEBSITE: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application

Meet Amazing Nyla-Alabama, a 14 month old 58 lb. female Goldendoodle, who is in an IDOG foster home in Owens Crossroads, Alabama, near Huntsville-Decatur, Alabama.

*Please read ALL the information in Nyla’s listing before applying to ensure you understand what she needs to be successful in her new home.

*If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for Nyla, please complete our adoption application at http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application (copy/paste URL into your browser).

*If you completed an adoption application in the last 6 months & would like for your application to be considered for Nyla, please email that to us to rescue@idogdoodlerescue.org.

*You must complete our adoption application fully. If you choose not to answer all of the questions in the application, your application will not be considered. We will review your application & email you if you made our short list of applicants for Nyla. Please respond within 24 hours if you receive an email from us about making our short list.

*You can check the status of her adoption at www.idogrescue.com/adopt or any of our social media pages. We will change her status to adopted when she is adopted.

*We base our adoption decisions on what is in the best interest of our dogs. Please note our adoption policies are in place for the safety and welfare of our dogs. We are all volunteers and have jobs, families, pets of our own to care for. We do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog.

*You must be approved to adopt Nyla before we schedule a meet and greet. We do not transport our dogs.

*AGE: 14 months old (born March 2025)

*WEIGHT: 58 lbs.

*FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical fence and yard are required. No shock collars or invisible fences will be considered, as we do not feel these would set her up for success. She loves following the scent of rabbits, etc. so we do think she will need a fenced yard for her safety.

*COAT TYPE: Soft wavy lower-shedding beautiful apricot-colored coat. Adopter should be prepared to brush her coat often and have her groomed regularly with an estimated cost of $120/groom.

*ENERGY LEVEL: High puppy energy. She will lay down and chill (follows lead of other dogs in the foster home) after her energy is expended. She will need daily walks and fetch or some other type of playtime. Nyla will jump and bark out of excitement especially when you first come home.

*DOGS: Yes Nyla is great with other dogs. We think she would be most successful in an adoptive home with another well-behaved dog. She is submissive so she benefits from other dogs that are well behaved and have stronger personalities. She lives with 2 other dogs now and lived with 1 dog in previous home. Other dogs would be beneficial to her as she needs a pack for comfort and to learn routine from. Another calm, well established dog in the house would help her acclimate to the new pack. Like the majority of dogs, she will need some transition time to acclimate to her new home and dogs in the home. She has shown absolutely no aggression towards dogs or people.

*CATS: Unsure of her previous interaction with cats. There are no cats in the foster home. Her prior owner mentioned that Nyla lived with a cat and had no issues but the cat just avoided her.

*KIDS: Ages 8+ who are accustomed to being around large dogs and OK being accidentally knocked down. She is around two kids under 3 in foster home and does well with them. Nyla can get overly excited around people in general. She thinks the 2 year old child in her foster home is always ready to play and run around and could easily knock small children down in her exuberance to play.

*CAR: She does well in the car! She wants to be where her people are.

*CRATE: Yes she is crated during day for a few hours if no one is home. She would not like to be crated all day. The most she has tolerated is 4 hours max in the crate. She could not tolerate being crated at night; she barked and whined for hours but does well on the dog bed in the foster’s bedroom at night.

*HOUSE TRAINED: Yes!

*LEASH: She walks well on leash with a short lead. Her foster mom uses a type of running leash that goes around the foster’s waist to keep her close. She’s calm and follows the lead of the other two dogs when walking.

*AT THE VET: GREAT!! The vet techs bragged about how good she was during visit.

* WITH GROOMING: Not sure. No grooming has been done in foster home yet but she does good with brushing.

Nyla is a gorgeous 14 month old Goldendoodle who weighs 58 lbs. Her owner loved her dearly but her work schedule caused Nyla to be crated all day and she wanted Nyla to be in a home where she had her owners with her to give her attention and exercise.

Nyla is a very sweet and exuberant girl. She adjusted well and pretty quickly in her foster home to the adults, children and 2 dogs (same size and bigger than her). She is very comfortable with our routine and follows the lead of the other two dogs. She will jump up on the couch with no hesitation. She is afraid of thunderstorms; she wants to be close to her humans during that thunder/lightning storms.

We ask that you give any rescue dog time to acclimate – the 3/3/3 rule – 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months. For 3 days after adoption/transition, the dog may wonder who you are, what the routine is, who the other dogs are. After about 3 weeks, the dog has typically acclimated to your schedule & knows her role in the house. After about 3 months, the dog has revealed their temperament & personality & settled in.

Adjectives that describe Nyla:
*Playful
*Snuggly
*Excitable
*Adorable
*Very sweet
*Gentle (after initial excitement)
*Good with other dogs
*Loves attention
*Cuddly
*Submissive
*Affectionate
*Friendly

Activities she enjoys:
**fetch
**walking
**chew toys
**squeaky toys
**cuddling
**meeting new people
**playing with other dogs

A few “needs work” items for Nyla:
*early riser
*barks when anxious (left alone and when initially crated)
*jumping on people due to excitement

We feel the ideal type of home for Nyla:
-family who is home more than they are not; her favorite thing is to be with her humans.
-in a home with another well-behaved dog who wants to play and show her the ropes.
-with a fenced yard where she is able to run and play.
-owner who is able to walk and ensure her exercise needs are met.

Nyla seems like she would do well in any household that can spend time with her and be part of the family. She’ll whine/cry a little bit when a person leaves but recovers quickly.

Nyla is spayed, microchipped, current on core vaccines and house-trained. She had a wellness vet visit on 5/21/26. Her heartworm and fecal tests were negative. She has a yeast infection in her ears and that is being treated with medication. She is on monthly heartworm preventive and wears a Seresto collar for flea prevention.

ADOPTION FEE: $600

ADOPTION FEE EXPLANATION:
Puppies & highly adoptable dogs have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting & expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses. Our expenses are high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board & train costs, medical/health issues & surgery that is needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees & our expenses. Unfortunately, donations are down across the board for all rescues.

TO APPLY FOR NYLA-ALABAMA, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application
