Nutmeg's Story

10-year-old Nutmeg's world was turned upside down when she was surrendered to Chesterfield Square Shelter by her owner for unknown reasons. After losing her family and home and spending time in a crowded shelter, Nutmeg arrived at Frosted Faces Foundation on August 4th and was understandably overwhelmed. This made a two-week Frosted Fling the perfect opportunity for Nutmeg to decompress in a calm, loving foster home while we learned more about this 28-pound cutie. She completely blossomed

Nutmeg's foster mom shared:
"Nutmeg is so sweet, precious, and an all-around good girl! She loves everyone she meets. She quickly becomes your best friend, following you around and hopping up on your lap. She loves to give kisses. Nutmeg knows the "sit" command and "drop it" while playing fetch.

Nutmeg loves to play fetch with a ball, but one morning she grabbed a shoe, ran around the room shaking it then set it down in front of me (the shoe wasn't harmed!) Nutmeg wants nothing more than to be with her person and love them. She followed me all around the house and sat on my lap on the couch. She slept with me and my dog in bed. She has the perfect mix of personality traits - loving, playful, and well-mannered.

Nutmeg didn't have a single accident in the house. Despite multiple daily trips outside every 2-4 hours, she often didn't pee for 8-10 hours at a time. And despite wanting to follow me all around the house, Nutmeg exhibited no separation anxiety. She was crated and left to roam the house, no issues either time. She was alone with my dogs for 2-3 hours.

Nutmeg likes food and ate three small meals a day of wet food. She would bark eagerly when she knew that I was getting it ready for her. She ate all her food well. She also enjoys treat and would sit properly and take them gently from my hand.

Nutmeg was also a gem around my goats. She didn't bark or try to chase them. When they came up to her to check her out and try to play with her, she calmly stood still and watched them. On walks, we passed a range of dogs out walking and she was non-reactive. She didn't bark or pull and just kept walking.

I took Nutmeg and my dogs up to a condo at Lake Cuyamaca for 3 days. My friend also came along. We took the dogs on walks around the lake and trails several times a day. At the house, Nutmeg went on walks and played fetch. She would snuggle up with me on the couch whenever I sat down.

Nutmeg is a total gem and so easy to love. She is sweet, loving, and playful, but she also relaxes and has no issues being left alone. Having her around is a joy, and she will be an excellent addition to someone's family."

To meet Nutmeg, please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org.
