Nutmeg's Story

Nutmeg Smart, Sweet, and Ready to Protect Her People Nutmeg is a bright, affectionate girl who's looking for a family to love and protect. She's incredibly smart, treat motivated, and eager to learn—though if her prey drive kicks in, treats suddenly become far less interesting. She's still practicing her leash skills, but with consistency and patience she's making great progress. Nutmeg is also a talented little climber, always curious about the world around her. At home, Nutmeg is wonderfully well-mannered. She stays off the couch unless invited, tolerates baths, ear cleaning, and face wiping like a champ, and enjoys being pampered—just don't ask her to be excited about nail trims. Her favorite things in the world are cuddling close, soaking up belly rubs, and being near her person. She's deeply loyal and naturally protective of her handler, making her an excellent companion for someone who appreciates a dog with a devoted heart. Nutmegs ideal home will understand her prey drive and help her continue building confidence and good leash habits. In return, shell offer endless affection, sharp intelligence, and the kind of devotion that makes you feel like the most important person in the world. If you're looking for a loving, clever, snuggly dog who will always have your back, Nutmeg might be your perfect match.

Maryland Animal Rescue Foundation (MARF)'s Adoption Policy
Potential adopters are interviewed to ensure a good home will be provided for the dog. Veterinarians and references are contacted and home checks (typically virtually) are performed. We require homes to provide proper vet care and meet all of the needs of the dog. In addition, we make sure the dog is the right fit for the adopter as sometimes the dog they want may not be the right fit for their home and family.
