Nutella's Story
Nutella is currently in a foster home. If you would like to meet her, please start by visiting www.sccrescue.org and completing an application.

Nutella—affectionately known as Ella—is as sweet and comforting as the hazelnut spread, with a story that’s just as memorable. She was claimed on the very day an astronaut returned from space, inspired by a jar of Nutella drifting in zero gravity—a little moment of wonder that perfectly captures her gentle, floating spirit. Ella brings that same quiet magic into a home: soft, steady, and full of warmth. Completely house trained and wonderfully quiet (she never barks!), she’s the kind of companion who expresses herself in soft glances, tail wags, and a deep love for her person—especially when head rubs are involved.

Thought to be around 2 years old, Ella is a sensitive, tender-hearted girl who is still learning that the world is a safe and happy place. Sudden movements or unfamiliar sounds can make her shy away, and she’ll sometimes lower her head and tail when she’s unsure. But with patience and kindness, she’s already beginning to blossom—responding to her name and “come,” and even learning to lift her head again with a gentle “look up.” She loves people and does especially well with children, showing a calm and respectful nature around kids ages 4–10. While she may be a bit unsure at first, her sweetness shines through once she feels secure.

Though not especially food-motivated (she’s more of a “kibble with a little something extra” kind of girl), Ella finds her joy in sunshine, fresh air, and companionship. As a former Dallas pup, she prefers warm, sunny days where she can stroll outside or relax in the backyard. On leash, she’s still figuring things out and can get a little enthusiastic—especially when squirrels or bunnies make an appearance—but she walks nicely alongside a confident dog friend and is learning as she goes. Toys are still a mystery to her, but she watches with curiosity, as if deciding whether to join in. Ella is a gentle soul looking for a patient, loving home where she can continue to grow, gain confidence, and share her quiet, heartfelt affection.

We love our dogs. We want happy lives for all of them and are looking for the home that provides the best fit for each dog’s individual needs. Please understand that there may be multiple families interested in this dog.

Also, please know that the breed mix listed is simply a guess. In most cases, we don’t know their background. We encourage you to base your decision on individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on our guess.

Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near the Chicagoland area. Questions? Email us at adoptions@sccrescue.org. Hope to see you become part of the SCCR family!
